Remove the protector under the body (rear left hand side).
Uncouple the pipe (1) ( as "a").
Couple the additive container to the tube (1) using the adaptor and pipe (with tap) from the filling kit.

Thanks Marc and Wheeler. I’m really sorry, but I am total idiot 🙈😂 Does the photo above show the connection removed with the additive kit connected ? In which case both of your advice is the same ? I’m sure your both currently banging your heads against your computer thinking “ is this guy stupid”. The answer is yes 😂

As your build date is 11505, you require Eolys 176 fluid, so not 'Extend' and not 'powerflex' fluid. which are specifically not to be used for C5 X7s with this build date and with this engine.

Do you happen to know if the tube adapters for this would be the same as post 2009 C5s. I have seen a kit that uses the pipe connection adapters mentioned a few posts back but those are for the member's 2009 C5. I wonder if my 2008 uses the same adapter pipes.

That’s the first time anybody’s asked me, that question to be honest. I would assume, although I can’t say for sure, but they are pretty standard, but may be others can confirm this.

I don't think you can get 176 anymore? In the end we went for JLM universal stuff to do my Sister's car (and mine when it comes up) - it seems to be what DPF doctor use. Given they probably do more of these than most, seemed a good enough endorsement to me, but views may differ, I know!

Yeah, I’m sure there is an equivalent Richard, I just can’t keep up with it, but I do know that PowerFlex and Eiolys extend are not to be used implicitly on this build date and this vehicle.

There are 176 refills showing on ebay and amazon.

What does the engine ECU do if this isn't refilled right away? It says "too low" as opposed to 'empty'

That’s just a standard warning, as it is not measured exactly. It calculates the distance remaining before your next service is due from the maintenance indicator, along with the estimation of how much fluid is left in the additive tank. If it thinks there’s not sufficient fluid to make it until the next service, it flags the warning up.

So if you check how many miles left on your maintenance indicator until your next service, that should give you some idea of the fluid running out before that mileage.

Righto, I assume it just keeps on dosing the stuff anyway. I'm going to get one of the refill kits although I am not sure the Lexia 3 and cloned software Kenny W gave me has the reset facility. Might have to find a proper Diagbox member.

The EOLYS 176 additive is replaced by the INFINEUM F7995 additive When current stocks are exhausted, only the new product will be supplied.
3. Compatibility between additives
Additive DPX42 cannot be mixed with any other additive.

N.B. : The different generations of additive do not affect the calibrations of the engine management ECU.
CAUTION : It is not permissible to mix additives INFINEUM F7995 and Rhodia EOLYS POWERFLEX with each other.

And

4.2. Rules for choice of additive for after-sales operations
N.B. : These rules only concern the filling of rigid reservoirs with particle filter additive.
