I looked out of my bedroom window just now, and saw this beautiful scene;

The Autumn colours should provide a good subject for POTD. I always think the Lake District looks its best particularly around Derwentwater at this time of year.

One of the key researchers responsible for their development has been recognised by the award of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry 2019 is M Stanley Whittingham from the UK, currently working at Binghampton University New York State, together with John B Goodenough of the University of Texas at Austin, and Akira Yoshino of Meijo University.Nobel prize in chemistry awarded for work on lithium-ion batteries
“It is remarkable too that although 30 years old, they have not been eclipsed by a better battery technology even now, which makes you realise what a remarkable discovery they are.”

I read a long article about them yesterday, one of the Nobel Prize awards in 1971?
It wasn't this, I don't remember which site it was on but is nearly the same as this on in The Gruaniad.

The three scientists have just been awarded the Prize for 2019 Steve. Literally this week and as that Guardian Article mentions John B. Goodenough is 97 years old and the oldest recipient of the prizemyglaren wrote: 10 Oct 2019, 09:38 I read a long article about them yesterday, one of the Nobel Prize awards in 1971?

That is NOT entirely unusual. IIRC there was a program on the BBC (something like Watchdog, but I cannot remember the program) where there were two modern cars (one of which was, I think, a VW Golf). They had an AA man 'helping' them out. He replaced a headlight bulb on the VW Golf, while a presenter replaced the headlight bulb on the other car. It took the presenter 5 -10 minutes, but the AA man 45 minutes (as the wheel on that side had to come off to gain access to the headlight bulb socket via a 'tunnel' from the wheel arch (via a hatch) to the headlight unit.

I thought I would have to remove the bumper from my daughter's Rover 75 and was looking for the fixings - in the wheel arch was a little trapdoor to the back of the lights. Two minute job

She has a Megane now

Pleased to clock up your 600th like there Chris, and a drone would have been a great tool for that scene, I'd like one myself but I fear usage is going to be severely restricted in the coming months, possibly even down to licensing being brought in. Nevertheless it's great to see an FCF foreign correspondant completing a requested mission!!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
My manager at work bought a drone.
Came in late the next day with a face that looked like it had been in a mincer - it had - he flew the drone into his face and spent most of the night in hospital getting it straightened out again.
