I had one in from a pipe smoker and the chassis and CRT were covered in what looked like treacle, the PCB was arcing all over the place, had to scrap it.

I think I'd be putting the thing that needs re threaded in a drill on slow speed

Not exactly the answer if the screw is like the drive shaft talked about earlier, still in situ on the car.
