Oh yes, nylon clothes, vinyl seats and static shocks! Happy memories

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
Thanks for bringing up the bench seat Peter, gives me an excuse to lob up this one from me.
We have already had a bit of a bench seat moment on the thread, but this Vauxhall Victor FB Super was the exact model I remember best, and our third family car after a 1957 Ford Anglia, and a hugely old-fashoined looking black 1955 Morris Cowley (also with the bench seat!).

Regards Neil

While we are at it we could have a nostalgic moment about engine bays

Great access in that engine bay! Gosh, you could hold a party in there
Bench seats had their uses - ask any courting couple of the period

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
So much remember these? on one car, but that gear lever poking up from the floor was not what I remember from our Victor.............definitely a column change and probably a three forward gears column change. Edit-According to wiki-the column change was standard and the four speed box with the floor gearchange was an optional extra

I once had a shaggy acrylic sweater & after bopping the night away, back in my room it'd crackle as I pulled it over my head & once discarded it would stand in the corner of the room - & sparkle!
Within the last week or so i have seen a car with one of those earth straps - I was just amazed it had survived so long.

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
All my early cars were column change including the A40 van I learned to drive in, except my first one a '39 Ford Prefect that had a floor lever about 3 feet long!
I was going to put some of my pictures up of my bench seat/column change cars, they were mostly on transparencies, I displayed them on the wall and took photo's of them and they mostly came out very well, I downloaded them to the computer and they have all dissapeared. I have done a through search but they aren't there. So will have to do it again.

They're almost certainly still there Peter, put .jpg in the search box and they will probably pop up.........with a lot more.

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
Been through all the picture/photo/album pictures I can find, JPG search gave me the same ones about 2000 of them but no sign of the ones I want. I don't usually delete them from the camera - but of course this time I did.

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
I don't recall any (pre-FD) Victors having floor changes, which was a distinguishing feature of the VX4/90.

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
The four speed box with floor change was an optional extra on the FB Victor in the UK.
This launch "postcard" tells us the four speed box, was £17 10s extra!
Full brochures here....loads and loads of them!

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
Clearly they were, as the original picture shows - but it did come as something of a revelation!

Note the inc PT in that price. the days before the dreaded VAT when the purchase tax was sorted at wholesale level and the shopkeeper could just chuck the money in an under-drawer till, didn't need a multi total computer to sort out the prices.

Remember politeness and courtesy? Occasionally there used to be a bit of it back in the 1960's provided you were in the right club!
