I wonder if one of the "benefits" of autonomous cars will be loading themselves up at optimal spacing on the cargo decks of those Autocarriers. They would also have to have a module of autostrapping themselves to the decks.

Another interesting fact is that most of these huge ships transporting goods around the world are powered by two stroke diesels!

On the general subject of freight why is it that freight on the sea is called cargo, while on the road it's called a shipment? :-D

Wound myself up in knots trying to find out for sure. If you want to waste an hour of your life too have a look at https://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/freight
Drove me nuts so I've decided to call it freight wherever it is

Just having a bottle of Hopfather beer.

Its brewed in Stoke Lacy Herefordshire.

Which has a connection with a great British Car company as Wiki reveals for the curious.

Quite a bit of motoring stuff in that area, the testing facility for Land Rover is, or was, at Eastnor Castle.

50 years of Testing celebrated in 2011 at Eastnor. Thought there might be some old film footage to`enjoy, but next to quite a boring video of that event was this little clip from the excellent British Pathe of landrovers playing musical oil drums and hillclimbing near Solihull in the 1960's...

POTD Sewage Pipe Over Engineering..

Unread post by NewcastleFalcon »

The river Derwent in County Durham, flows from the moors above Consett down to the Tyne by the MetroCentre.

While IKEA was satisfying some of our household needs, I did my usual and had a mooch around with the dog round the paths and cycleways for an hour or so, and came across this bridge across the Derwent.

Find me a more overengineered passage for a sewage pipe across a river in the entire world!

It has its own "bridge" :!:
nf own work The worlds most beautiful sewage pipe

After a small amount of delving, internet search engines aren't quite geared up enough for finding pictures of sewage pipes over rivers, but one of the few which pops up is a very second division one over the River Irwell in the vicinity of the quaintly named Nob End.

Yes Nob End is a Site of Special Scientific Interest..., and also a site of FCF OTCL DMC interest...

For this
