Re: Forum not secure?
Maybe rebooting the phone would clear it up?

Re: Forum not secure?
This is behaving exactly the same on my phone (Chrome, Firefox and Kiwi Browser), desktop under both Linux and Windows in Firefox, Chromium and Edge, and on my tablet using both Chrome and the default Samsung browser.
I just used the phone as an example as it was in my hand at the time.
Have cleared data on all of the above.
Chrome on Windows wouldn't have had any data there anyway given it was a fresh installation I put on there just to test and it wasn't signed in to sync anything anyway. So that should rule out any *local* cache issues I'd think.
I wonder if Vodafone are doing some supposedly clever caching at the server level that's screwing up? The fact that I can get in by using an address that's deeper in the directory structure but not the landing page itself just seems really odd.
Vodafone is the only real common denominator here in that they're providing both my landline internet and cellular connection, which is why I'm wondering if there's something funky going on at their end. Though I did just try via my laptop using Proton VPN to try to eliminate their involvement as far as possible, and same result.

Re: Forum not secure?
That's really bizarre Zel
I'm on Vodafone FTTP Internet via Cityfibre so we'll likely be using the same infrastructure. As said, no issues here...
Likewise, no issues with my 3/Vodafone phone running Chrome under Android either.

Re: Forum not secure?
Our SSL certificate did expire last week (a combination of a badly updated script and our move to a Cloudflare proxy).
As far as I am aware there is no current problem with the forum configuration or certificate. Perhaps you have a cached copy of the error pages?

Re: Forum not secure?
Surely Zel, using your VPN won't make any difference if the PC is using the same Vodaphone supplied broadband, the VPN will only alter your address info but you'll be using the same circuit to get onto the internet?
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Forum not secure?
It was very much just tried in a "well I don't have any better ideas" sort of way to be honest. Plus I knew it hadn't been booted in a couple of months so definitely wouldn't have had anything in the cache to be causing issues.mickthemaverick wrote: 24 Jun 2025, 16:51 Surely Zel, using your VPN won't make any difference if the PC is using the same Vodaphone supplied broadband, the VPN will only alter your address info but you'll be using the same circuit to get onto the internet?![]()
EDIT:
I figured out what's going on.
www.frenchcarforum.co.uk and frenchcarforum.co.uk are resolving to different IP addresses. If you chop off the www. it works - but www. throws up the errors I've been getting. Which I had because the saved bookmark for the forum had that prefix on it.

Re: Forum not secure?
I have only been using the one laptop for a couple of weeks and on that one, only Chromium to visit the forum.
Just tried both Firefox and Brave and:-
Will have to try the other laptop later.

That's interesting Zel...Zelandeth wrote: 24 Jun 2025, 17:36 www.frenchcarforum.co.uk and frenchcarforum.co.uk are resolving to different IP addresses.
I've just done an nslookup from here (to the default ISP DNS server) on both and they return the same sets of IP addresses... In a different order but the same nonetheless...
Interested to see IPV6 addresses are also returned...
The plot thickens... Are you using a local DNS server Zel?

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: Forum not secure?
The public-facing IP addresses are provided by the Cloudflare proxy, and may be different for different sub-domains, and will be different for users in different geographic locations.Zelandeth wrote: 24 Jun 2025, 17:36

It may be that there is a Cloudflare issue, but I just logged into our Cloudflare control panel and the configuration looks correct. Are you sure that you don't have a stale DNS cache somewhere? Have you tried with a different device?

Re: Forum not secure?
I now see here that the www. subdomain is showing the same error, I will investigate our server (which should just be redirecting such queries to the main domain).

Re: Forum not secure?
I have temporarily disabled the Cloudflare proxy on the www. subdomain to see if it makes any difference, but it may take a while for the DNS change to propagate.

Re: Forum not secure?
Disabling the proxy on www. has fixed the problem, which indicates that there is no problem with our server, but somehow Cloudflare has got confused. I will leave as it is tonight and try again tomorrow.
