Yes it will help other rodents as well of course but as long as the hogs can get up it should be fine. I'd suggest you keep the angle under 20° if you have sufficient length!

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: Hedgehogs and anything to do with them!!
Well I was going to build the hedgehog hive and then realised I didn't need to. They have moved in under my decking!!! I didn't put a skirt on the edge of the decking as it's on sloping ground and it's obviously raised off the ground to stop wood rot. I noticed loose mud where there shouldn't be. I've looked around and seen loads of snail shells destroyed, no slugs no snails. How do I supplement their diet?

NOT bread and milk!!!!! SWMBO puts out a sachet of cat food and they love it, they also take dried cat biscuits and any lean meat scraps!

Re: Hedgehogs and anything to do with them!!
A very long time ago (when my Mum was a child) the family 'rescued' a hedgehog with both back legs broken, and nursed it back to health (they named it George). George then decided to 'attach' himself to the family (they lived on a farm, so plenty of space), and got on well with almost everybody. The exception was the dog, at feeding time. When the dog's bowl was put down both the dog and George would head towards it at high speed. The dog had a very good reason for doing this; when George arrived he would climb into the bowl, erect his spines, and then tuck in. George apparently thrived on dog food (and the dog was given a top up later on, once the family realised what George was doing).

Well that's good for me then, I've placed a wireless camera on the edge of the decking but have no cat food But I do have dog treats, so I crumbled a few dog treats and sprinkled it near the opening I believe they come from. Lots of cats around here, I'm hoping dog treats would be left alone

Re: Hedgehogs and anything to do with them!!
I would not bet on it. My Mum (who lives on a narrowboat) has both a dog (Boy) and a cat (Amber). Amber will, if she can, quite happily grab a quick mouthful (or two, if she thinks she can get away with it) from Boys' bowl.Rp0thejester wrote: ↑13 Aug 2023, 19:54 Well that's good for me then, I've placed a wireless camera on the edge of the decking but have no cat food But I do have dog treats, so I crumbled a few dog treats and sprinkled it near the opening I believe they come from. Fck, well at least I have a camera pointing at it, if any cat would eat it it would be the neighbours

Re: Hedgehogs and anything to do with them!!
A Polish friend of mine (not that one, James!) nicknamed me "Spiky Mikey" some years ago, and people now keep buying me bloody hedgehog related stuff... for starters I have a Hedgehog solar garden lamp, and a small tattoo of a cartoon hedgehog on the inside of my left ankle..
He's getting on a bit now, 5 or 6 years old and more than a few coats of XCF Rust proofer!

I wouldn't bet on it. My youngest cat eats anything. He was nicking the rabbit's weird food last week!Rp0thejester wrote: ↑13 Aug 2023, 19:54 Well that's good for me then, I've placed a wireless camera on the edge of the decking but have no cat food But I do have dog treats, so I crumbled a few dog treats and sprinkled it near the opening I believe they come from. Well, he is named after a ginger superstar. They are supposed to sometimes be weird, so the cat is trying to live up to that reputation!Michel wrote: ↑14 Aug 2023, 15:31I wouldn't bet on it. This was going to go on POTD Hedgehog club, then I thought one of the nearly 5000 subjects in the Off Topic Chat Lounge section of the FCF was all about hedgehogs.
