Yes Chris, I have that option to disable the volumetric protection - and I did try that to eliminate the cause and made no difference - which told me it was one of the door, tailgate or boot contact sensors. Disabling the alarm then allowed the bonnet open message to be displayed, which was the giveaway.white exec wrote: 05 Jul 2018, 17:47 Marc, do you have the option of killing the interior volumetric sensors (if you have them), and leaving perimeter protection operational? I know it's a different system, but XM vol sensors could trigger falsely and easily in hot weather, even without a stowaway fly. OE includes a vol sensor defeat switch.
PS. Isn't that little rectangular box with the small plunger sticking out just a push-switch? I have exactly the same on each of the two XM bonnet catches.
I'll keep an eye out for the bonnet cable sensor - but unfortunately, the one for our 1.6 HDi (DWATED4) engine requires a completely different one (633943) to all the others (633936) for some mysterious reason - How the engine and transmission type can affect the bonnet sensor is a step too far!
I managed to find along with the applicator sponge, which had shrivelled up to the size of a walnut 
Typical! But then again, I remember now that I could never work out what colour sponges do what - and I only ever used it on the lowest setting as I heard these things can burn through your paint work! Thinking about it, that's probably why I put it in the furthest corner of the shed in the first place
