Can head gasket issues affect power steering/steering systems? It feels like my power steering is off!
Sorry for the repeated questions

Have you checked the fluid levels/belt tension ?
Are you running the engine or taking the head off ?
....are you still driving it ? how do you know it is "off ?

Re: 206 - Misfire/high coolant use
Hi Matt!
Sorry to jump a thread this old but I'm experiencing similar issues with my 206 , was it the head gasket the issue ? I bought this car in July , and it started loosing coolant and misfire/white steam/smoke only when it's cold like below 5 degrees celsius. Id appreciate if you can help with any advice. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum
So, are you saying that above 5 degrees, all is good? No coolant loss, no smoke and no steam?
If so, check your thermostat... Otherwise, if coolant loss continues then I'm afraid the head gasket may be the problem. These engines should loose no coolant..
Be aware that in the cold, many engines steam from the exhaust whilst it warms up; this is normal. If it continues once the engine is hot then it points to a problem.

It's probably the fact that above 5 degrees the vapor doesn't condense into steam...but it's still there!Wynny93 wrote: 02 Dec 2024, 16:42 Hi Matt!

You probably have a breach between the cooling jacket and the combustion chamber. Do you also get bubbling in the header tank?
The TU5JP4 engines are very reliable. However this type of damage is typically from poor coolant (antifreeze). Corrosion eats it's way from the coolant passages to the combustion chamber along the bottom of the cylinder head.
It's not the only possibility but the most likely.
