Fail!

Typical... It chose today for the horn to fail (it now just goes 'peep!'), windscreen wiper won't stay still (creeping across the screen despite working fine otherwise) and the fans choosing not to work (although the fan motors do work) and so the car overheated on the ramp causing the radiator to burst.

Also seeing it in daylight for the first time I'm a bit disappointed at how the paint job turned out.

So... Slightly depressed but taking it to the great Tony Weston tomorrow for assessment. I hear he can work miracles!

Bad news James :(

Still, they are only quite minor things and you should be proud for doing all of the restoration between you anf a mate, that is not something many people would take on! You'll soon get it on the road and be enjoying it 8-)

Tony Weston has kindly taken it under his wing so the car is in good hands now :-)

All this aside, I can't believe it's actually working at all. If you could have seen it when we found it originally - it probably should have been condemned for scrap! Feeling quite pleased to have got this far with it to be honest.

Thanks for the support as always!

And it's a pass! Huge thanks to Tony and Andrew Weston for their work.

So after many years of abandonment, the first proper journey will be to the CXM rally! (Hopefully) see you there....

Thanks again everyone!

Haha! Please don't get too excited Chris!!! It's not the most perfect Prestige by any stretch of the imagination - and it's not quite finished. The appeal I think is in the fact it was nothing more than a large heap of silver scrap this time last year - a mere haven for mice and mould!

Been a while since the last update and I'm happy to report B425 FGP is now back on the road! After a bit of a false start (only 4 days back on the road before the auto gearbox went bang!), I had to have the gearbox replaced (ouch) and a new radiator (the process of sourcing a suitable box and having it sorted took 3 months).

But I picked it up from Tony Weston near Gloucester the other day and finally (15 months after buying what was a wreck) I drove it home to Birmingham for the first time today. It's now ticking itself to sleep in my driveway. Still plenty to do (cosmetic mostly) but it felt fantastic on the drive back.

Thanks again to everyone who helped me through the whole restoration drama :-)

Cheers Franklin. Next thing to decide is whether I continue spending money on all those other little bits - or sell her and get the actual CX I've always wanted! It's just good to know that one more Prestige has been saved and will put in many more decades to come! ;-)

Landmark mileage event! It's been sitting on the 'circa 79,000 miles' since 2006 so I suppose it had to happen at some point :-)
