Re: Picture(s) of the day....
The church clock is a staple on POTD Steve. I keep a particular track of red church clocks which are a notable rarity probably less than a dozen in the entire UK.

Here's my potd, just spent half an hour trying to get the little bugger out before he killed himself trying to smash his way through the double glazing.
Must get a bird stopper on that chimney.

Your Starling is probably a bit more filighty and difficult to catch and a bit more kamikaze than our Jackdaws. My method is large bath towel. Calms them down, and makes less likely to damage themselves, and a good surface area for the initial catch.

I have a feeling that there's another one in the chimney, I can hear flapping noises behind my gas fire.
To stop them crashing into the windows I close the curtains and ignore them until they settle down, they're a bit easier to catch once they've sat a while.

If you can darken the room and make it so the only light showing to them is their access route to the outside then it can make it easier for them to get themselves out

Ours was called Elgar - or Ice Bear, as the kids here would call him.Huge, gentle and loved small children... Grooming was fun, even if a bit time-consuming...
