Demolishing the Doric Arch was a barbaric act of cultural vandalism  And as for what they built as the new, improved Euston Station is beyond words suitable for use on this forum
When Euston was rebuilt in the 1970s part of the new construction was the building which became BT Mobile House which stretched across Euston Square in front of the station.:

The yellow arrows show where on the third floor, my office was on the opposite side of the building looking straight at the station.

The view I had was very handy as I commuted to and from Euston every day and I was able to check my trains from my desk!!:

The thread has been going a couple of years now starting October 1st 2020. A celebration and marking of the first day of the new month. which in time-honoured tradition will close for entries when "the bawdy hand of the dial is upon the prick of midnight" (to paraphrase Mercutio in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet)

Contributions invited...anything goes :!: :-D

Original Pictures taken this Thursday, the first day of December 2022. Calendar turnings, random indoor shots, random outdoor shots, relevant trivia /music for the new month.

Starter for ten

In a first for the First Day thread I have let the random hand do its work to select an episode for the day of "The Architecture the Railways Built" from the 30 available here

viewtopic.php?p=737474#p737474

It selected number 13 translating into series 2 episode 3.

Windsor/Connel Bridge/Poland

As ever well worth a watch an episode of the day for 1st December 2022. Windsor and Slough have between them a very long squat viaduct through the fields of Eton and a bow-string bridge to span the Thames.

I spent a quality part of the first day of the month in the company of my granddaughter and her mum looking suitably festive :-D

Hugely welcomed by all of us who like to travel but hate getting wet feet :) Still an awesome piece of engineering and a tremendous achievement...
