The symphonic hosepipe sounds like a rare treat.MattBLancs wrote: 05 May 2025, 18:35
- retrieve hosepipe (tied outside bathroom window)
- instigate syphon (quick 2 second holding end of hose over bath tap connection usually sufficiently filled hose to a level below bath water level hence setting off the symphonic action)
- empty bath 90% by keeping end of hose below surface.
- discharged water accumulated into a "spare" wheelie bin. About half a bin full per bath.
- following day: water plants /grass with watering can dunked into wheelie bin.

Bugger - a small puddle in the under sink drawer. Going to be one of those two steps forward, hopefully only one step back type of jobs then...

Oh and 2000 grit (and some 1500 grit) on order from local builders' merchant - cheaper than anywhere else I can find. They'd up to 1200 in stock but order the finer stuff (possiblity ready next day)

I've got to hand it to you Matt, it looks like you've hitched a good deal there

I thought I'd leap into action ahead of starting work so could fit that new towbar hitch. It seems today is going to start with one of those "assumption makes an ass of you and me" lessons.
Here is the draw bar of my daxara trailer: Note: there is nothing presently wrong with this tow hitch.
Here in contrast is the drawbar of my other Franc trailer: This is the one with I suspect that failed spring internally.
Guess which size hitches I bought!?

Potential plan:
Sleeve inside the 60 mm box action with a piece of 50 mm box section (I have some lying around from former big trailer chassis, bit rusty but should clean up) picking up the two existing hitch bolt holes as pictured and with two holes in the 50 millimeter to suit the new hitch.
Slightly lengthening drawback will slightly reduce its jacknife whilst reversing tendances so no downside in that regard.

Have you considered filling bags with the soil and hiding the bags down your trousers and then releasing the soil out of your trousers over the local playing field ? I think this was done with some success many years ago
