I'll edit that out, I was getting that too but If I cut and pasted the link firefox allowed it so thought it was just my machinery.

The site is the "Image Leicestershire"-The Record Office for Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland hardly the world's dodgiest site you would think.
Welcome to Image Leicestershire – where you will find images of material from the collections of Leicestershire County Council’s Museums, Libraries and Archives services. You can discover the historical and cultural life of Leicestershire through this growing image library which includes a wonderful selection of photographs, paintings and objects from our collections.
Well done Leicestershire, about as precious about their images as the Durham equivalent!

I just turned the Scenic around and lined it up so the front was level. It's somewhat longer than the CF.

Random link of the day--Phil Serrell of TV Antiquey fame, was wallowing in nostalgia for a toy version of this.

If you were to send that picture to James May and Jeremy Clarkson there would be a rarely heard phenomena in the area, as they would generate a sonic boom in their haste to get their and have fun!

Martin Briquet the photographer seems to specialise in pictures of decaying buldings/transport/equipment

This is an interesting car related pic of his. Country roads may not always take you home!

From Wikipedia

Was dithering around in the garden earlier and spotted one of these. Never seen one before.
Apparently they like primrose nectar and it was close to a heap of primroses.
They also eat bee larvae and I have a hive of wild bees in my attic (uninvited) so two reasons for its presence.

All three cameras in the house and upstairs of course, gone in a flash when I moved.
Pity it doesn't eat slugs, plenty of them around :(

Gosh! It's a big old bee-mimic isn't it...

Luckily, quite harmless...

If you want to get rid of slugs see if you can tempt a hedgehog or two to move into your garden.

We did used to get the odd one but not for a long time now.
There are fields and woods with lots of wildlife in them - foxes, rabbits, squirrels, ducks, owls etc so relatively little here for them.

I put yeast in containers to lure them to a drowning death but they stink when they die like that :vomit1:

Yeast works, but if you get some plastic cups and push them into the soil so that the tops are level, and then fill them half full with some beer that also works well.

Waste of good beer (although I rarely drink any)
Yeast is cheap and effective.

beetle, squirrel, mouse, frog, toad, slowworm, blackbird, thrush and probably many more - enjoy a fat slug or two.

I do have a blackbird nesting in the ivy, and a thrush close by.
A crow (a real crow, not a rook or jackdaw) took a slug earlier.
