A good deal "in a way", add effort and man hours.

True, but as these cars are a "hobby" I tend to count my hours and effort as part of the hobby so in a way you got an even better deal. cheap Volcane and a few hours of playtime to boot. I can think of other hobbies where a hundred quid wouldn't get you more than a couple of hours AND those hobbies don't leave you with a sweet, classic warm hatch at the end of the day. I just fear that by the time you're done with this one it'll be well and truly out of my league price-wise even if you don't end up loving the thing... (Personally, I think you'll end up keeping the car, they really are a hoot to drive and having a bit of oomph under the bonnet I can only imagine it'll be more so) :)

This is all very true.

Took the AX to Chipping Sodbury today, a delightful little thing. It kept up with the traffic, it was fun to keep "on the buzz" in the twistys and still be within the speed limit. All for about £105 plus "bits" :)

That AX is always going to be a stonking deal even if it didn't turn out to be as clean and as simple to get back to life. They're a surprisingly rare sight nowadays. I should read back in your posts actually and see what your trick is to getting the paint to come up so well, I do have a small buffing machine but not sure on the best compounds to use. T-Cut used to be brilliant on heavily oxidised stuff like the ZX but I found it was best done by hand and also a bit "heavy" for stuff like Black's paint which is still shiny but really does need a good buff to rid it of some swirl marks and lighter scratches...

It'll never be perfect (and White's finish was beautiful when she arrived) but it deserves a going over once the salt gets put away. Hoping to get to at least one Citroen rally this year so that's an added inspiration lol :D

Getting around the other side:

a large build-up of crap and old wax in every nook & cranny and at every seal edge is adding a lot of "by hand" work......geerrr

Looking terrific. Always liked the rear end of ZX: very classy, and reminiscent of XM Estate.

Definitely not guilty! Must have been in the car’s first 3 years of life - not in my long ownership. I never had reason to change the plates. Can only think it was the original new car dealership. I bought it from Broads of Watford who I’ve used a few times in the past and always found them a pretty good outfit.

I hope you're gonna enjoy driving it. Do get a selfie or at least give us an indication of the size of the grin on your face when you do.
