Looks like it's a brother of the ebay one listed recently which ended up going for £250:

Which makes £1500 a bit hard to swallow:

I have to admit I'm becoming more and more tempted by the thought of booking a trip to Glasgow for that red one in the 'For Sale' section

I've been wondering to myself if I could get the missus to go over to Glasgow for a visit to her parents and "find" that Activa while I'm there. :D :D

It looks like on SORN though so I'd have to fork out for six months tax for the sake of one day's driving to get it back down south here.

Knowing my luck I'd be nabbed by ANPR somewhere after Newry, just before I got over the border.

As far as I know the DVLA don't do tax disc refunds to people living outside the UK, do they? :(

Must talk myself out of it.... Must talk myself out of it....

Oh yeah, I fixed your links for you:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0332815125
Cheers for that, Why didn't the links work? I used the URL button on the top right, and thought it'd work. Obviously not :P

Blimey! ANOTHER grey one. I'd never seen a Xantia in this colour until I got mine, and I don't think I've seen another one since!

Yes, mine's identical to yours except for the shine and the extra go!

Simple way around it is to insure it for the day, book the MOT in the town of where you are crossing in, ie holyhead or liverpool, then you can drive it legally towards the seaport and back home, then voila you have exported it :-)

or drive over and use a towing frame and tow the girl home :)

Getting the car from Glasgow to Stranraer wouldn't be a problem. Northern Ireland's the problem - the plod ALWAYS select me for a chat and a search when I come off the ferry. I must have one of those faces, or my name's on a list somewhere... :D Anyway, last time I heard MOT waiting times in Northern Ireland were colossal so I couldn't depend on the MOT loophole unless I was buying at Christmas. ;)

The idea of transporting it is good, but you'd need big huge balls of steel a-framing a car down to Stranraer on the A77...

There are car transporter companies who do weekly crossings to the UK and will pick up ebay wins, etc for you but they're about €400-500 for the pleasure. Obviously not a service for the £600 Activa buyer. 8)

I think I'll have to go back over the last few pages and cross-reference with the road tax website to see what's out there with tax.

A low millage mk2 Activa in need of saving, reading the description sounds like typical garage ignorance at work.

Very low mileage for a 98 car, i hope its saved from being a Peugeot donor. Although it sounds as though that could be its fate, as the first question asks only about its turbo. :(
