Re: Picture(s) of the day..
Yes, hence why they're called leg warmers
They work beautifully and the great thing is if you get too warm about the legs you can take them off easily...
I also have a set of arm warmers too...
The cyclist on my second wheel is a lot braver than me being bare legged but then he does have rather more padding about him than I do

Remember it will be dark quite soon, it would be a shame if the November first day POTD was one of a black cat in a coal cellar!
It's not going to be as this is the first POTD for the month

Excellent Jim, and an interesting image, with colour and action! Well up in the running for the November page in an FCF virtual calendar of first day posts...
I say virtual calendar because the FCF Calendar year looks like its November to October. Now there's a unique selling point when all the other calendars in the shops will go from January to December!

Re: Picture(s) of the day..
Try this for an idea re FCF calendar. Over the next 6 months or so forum members take photographs of French cars out in the wild, and submit them. The moderators then choose their favourites (say, around 100 in total), and then submit them to the forum members for final selection. Maybe the winners would get a prize (other than knowing they had submitted a winning picture). Then the calendars would be produced, and the profits would go towards the forum costs.
For each calendar year the photos would have to be taken that year, so are new and fresh.

Re: Picture(s) of the day..
We habitually take advantage of the offers from Vistaprint et al with personalised calendars from our photos over the year, usually cheap as chips and the quality is great.
I am so pleased that the first month of the now traditional FCF First Day POTD was rescued by Jim with his excellent photo. The boat has sailed now for November 1st 2017 and its a return to the best creative commons can give us for todays picture. First point of call geograph.
I was hoping for a picture of a cow on the Isle of Wight standing next to a triangulation point and, "whatarethechancesofthathappening?", guess what is image of the day on Geograph this morning....
Now if you are curious like me you will be wondering whether that is just an ordinary triangulation point. The answer is of course "no", but you do learn more if you find out for yourself so I'll not provide it on a plate for you!
Regards Neil

Re: Picture(s) of the day..
Speaking of triangulation points, one of the very best TV programmes I ever watched and really enjoyed was a BBC4 'Timeshift' documentary all about the Ordnance Survey and their mapping of the UK in the 20th Century and their use of said triangulation points...
Many are still extant but they're not so much needed now with GPS and Satellite surveying...
I find the whole subject of mapping most interesting; I love maps and can spend many happy and absorbing hours reading them

Another one for the Cattle enthusiast which also holds some interest for the sewage farm aficionado
For anyone planning a visit its from Penkridge in Staffordshire
Unbelievably this has made it to geograph's image of the day. Quite an unexpected coup for the photographer Roger Kidd but the judging panel over at geograph must be off their heads!

Cows. Nope, no enthusiasm for them at all... A perfect example of an animal where the lights are on but nobody is at home..
I hail from a rural farming community and have family members who farm but farming and farm animals hold no interest for me at all, in fact just the opposite... I find it all a bit repulsive really... All that mud, dirt, poo and stink is hideous to me...
