Re: Classic car Spring/Summer Collection-2017
I saw a couple of nice vehicles today. I saw an old, split screen Land Rover, registration (if I got it RIGHT!) 972 GOR (no pictures, as I was driving), and this little beauty at the westbound Rownhams Services;

Nice Yellow Alvis, but it does look older than the 1949 the reg number enquiry shows

The Saab to its' right has been abandoned there. According to the staff it has been there for two years, and (because it is private land) the police have no interest.

Re: Classic car Spring/Summer Collection-2017
Saw a crippled dark blue Jensen Interceptor at the side of the road yesterday. The front left wheel was in a different location to the rest of the car and there was a gouge in the road and two blokes scratching their heads. I don't know if it was just a simple case of loose wheel nuts or something more serious

Re: Classic car Autumn/Winter collection-2017/18
Two great spots on my epic bike ride today...
The first one was as rare as they come... A Vauxhall PC Cresta
Not seen one for as long as I can remember...
I saw a couple of Morgans and another unidentified big pre-war saloon but for me the best one was a Ferguson TE20 tractor... I followed it for a bit, albeit slowly, as it was toddling along at no more then 15mph. It was in gorgeous condition, obviously loved and cherished, and the greatest thing for me was that it was running on TVO (or rather the nearest you can get to it these days). The exhaust smelt simply wonderful and that smell just took me right back to my childhood when the smell of TVO exhaust was commonplace. It took me to some very happy memories too
Made my day. The bike ride was great too. A 55 mile jaunt around the periphery of Milton Keynes...
I did pass the Fergy in the end and at some speed too - relatively speaking

You must know your Cresta's Jim, mention a Cresta and I get a picture of those lovely two-tone jobs, but no the Cresta C is a later incarnation. Simon Cars as ever has a nice bit of background on the Cresta with lots of pics. Fair old straight 6 lump under the bonnet too!
What colour was "yours" Jim?

and here's one from tthe rear, should you spot one while on a bike!

I remember those well. Used acres of almost flat sheet steel, before a Ford (forget which) did the same.
Think the PC had Powerglide, which slushed its way between just two gears. With 3.3L you can do that.
Room for several mechanics to stand in the engine compartment, iirc.

...forgot to put up the link to Simon Cars on the Cresta
http://www.simoncars.co.uk/vauxhall/cresta.html
and one of those FCF random links, the grey Cresta C from the wiki photograph is parked infront of the Police Station at Ongar. Which co-incidentally received a reference on the FCF on POTD thread earlier this month, in connection with the Epping-Ongar rail/former tube line.

The one I spotted was a silvery grey one...
Its exhaust stank to high-heaven so it must have been the 3.3

Saw a bright green Trabant in Kirkwall on Orkney today - amusingly, it had an Isle of Wight number plate on it - couldn't be further away really!!

Extra points if it was an estate!

I think it was, Neil!!
Saw an R4 yesterday - on an F plate, so that would be 1988 - didn't realise they were still making them then!

That is late! Was it a left-hooker? I wonder if it was a grey import and one originally made under licence in some other location besides France...
I believe many of the smaller French cars ended up being produced long after in some so-called 'under-developed' territories...

They'd be interested if someone hinted there's a body in the boot.
