And a double NE spot today with one from me on the A697 heading north a red Xantia Estate, they are starting to get in the 'unusual. 50 point spot category now for a random on the road spot.
The red BX on the way to the tip at Bebside looks like it hasn't moved since I first spotted it months ago.
Of that i'm quite certain BUT, if that's right, we're not going to see them so much. Just don't tell the French, Belgians & Dutch - 'cos they don't realise this.

Coming through Dartington on Saturday morning a very shiny (could even have been new) black C5 estate - on Geneva plates! & only a few cars behind a grey British one.

Out of the 1200 or so vehicles at the Thirlestane Castle Scottish Borders Historic Motoring Extravaganza there were probably less than a dozen French offerings, and that includes a toy xantia needing a respray which I rejected as being overpriced at £2

Spotted my first Xantia in the wild for a LONG time yesterday. It was just leaving the M8 to go onto the M73 in Glasgow. Couldn't tell what engine or spec it was but it was very tidy and was the same colour as my old Silver problem child.
Anyone on here want to fess up to owning it ?

If the registration is what I read it as, and not a trick of refraction, then I can only suggest that the Good Lord himself drives one of Citroen's finest!

Yes, I maintain that view.... It was not made lightly...
I'm not sure I fully agree, perhaps the very best & the lower-end-of-average ones are not suitable in that they'd be either unreliable/expensive for the average "Joe" to keep going or too nice to put at risk, but those that inhabit the middle ground of not being cosmetically perfect/fully original but still being presentable and mechanically sound are ideal for everyday use. Still more than enough go & stop to cut it with modern traffic and maintained/cleaned properly they won't deteriorate as fast as a more modern car that's not as well looked after.
Certainly they're economical to run and repairs cost very little for those prepared to do their own spannering. The only thing that rankles with me about using a Xantia every day is the higher chance of a write off through very little damage (to that end, we have salvage buy-back option) but then I guess many more modern but low-value vehicles would also be the same in that respect.
Perhaps you could direct me to the post containing your reasoning on this & maybe I'd be enlightened.
EDIT-: Oh, and over the weekend (probably Saturday afternoon I think) we spotted an earthy brown DS around Llangollen, flashed (the headlights on Black, nothing worse!) & got a cheery wave in return

The picture is from zoomed in video footage from my dashcam - I tried to find a frame where the number plate was clear to read, but a combination of rain drops on my windscreen and video compression artefacts due to the car moving pretty fast and me being stationary makes it unreadable on any individual frame...

Pretty sure that's OOD (G-O-D wasn't issued) - which is a N. Devon plate, so a long way from home!

Not issued... too much potential for bother if allocated to a car bought by someone of another Faith perhaps? I do recall they wouldn't issue plates with potentially rude combinations too, hence my guess. Shame as in the mid '90s I really wanted to see a new car driving round bearing the plate P (one hundred and fifty-five) OFF
Just half an hour ago I saw a very rare sight indeed, a 1990 XM 2.1 D parked in a driveway not 5 minutes away from our house! Managed to snap a quick piccie & wondered if this one has any forum history or known to anyone on here? Shame it wasn't actually being driven as that'd have made my day, although I think being MoT'd till July and parked outside on a driveway still classes it as "in the wild"
