Yes I spot some beautiful cars round here including an e type and a DS that I see quite often. Oh yes and a little Renault van I believe was a 6 with some letters as well.

Re: Spotted Xantias! (and other French stuff)
My (admittedly very) limited research suggested the 509 was a car made in China for the Chinese domestic market only...
Cars are awfully fat now Alasdair - don't you just know it when they pass you whilst cycling! The comparison with that very delectable 309 really shows it...
Even the Pug of Love seems huge to me for a so-called 'supermini'
James, that's a gorgeous DS

Isn't it just, I'm really hoping to meet the owner when I'm in my Xantia and encourage them onto the Forum.

A few more local spots. Two are not French but worthy of a picture in my opinion.
Sundays seem to see us inundated with mgs, triumphs and other interesting classics. Always been driving when I spot them so no pics. I think I saw a Humbre yesterday as well but I was concentrating on driving and couldn't pay enough attention to id it.-

Silver "Y" reg Xantia threading its way through Aldi's car park, no photographic gear with me.
First Xantia in months.
Just been down to Teesside and there was nothing at all of any interest going nor returning.

Do you by any chance mean a 309?
No...But you're right that I was totally wrong...505 is what I meant! The - what seemed at the time vast - estate version too...Which now looks small next to a Focus...

...and coincidentally the in film "Jagged Edge" which was on late last night, the star was a white "Peugeot 505 'Station Wagon'" driven throughout the movie by Glenn Close playing high-profile lawyer Teddy Barnes!

Re: Spotted Xantias! (and other French stuff)
Leicester seems to be where all the Pug 306s live...Counted four I think i while I was there yesterday. Main one for me though was an L plate Xnd in white. Looked absolutely mint inside and out, and was gleaming - which always seems to be hard to achieve on a white car.
Really nice seeing a car like that both looked after and at least looking totally stock after this many years.
If it's owned by anyone on here, it's a credit to your work.

Re: Spotted Xantias! (and other French stuff)
Two today!
F plate ...Brain is now failing me...Unless it was on a G plate...Bright orange Peugeot 504 pickup dropping stuff off at the New Bradwell recycling centre, got a wave from the driver as they left. Never realised the 504 shared the instrument cluster with the AX, C15 and Talbot Samba.
Second one was at the Stacy Bushes Toolstation, where I parked next to an immaculate looking M plate Pug 106 Graduate in white. Only thing it was missing was a set of factory wheel covers.

Nothing seen yesterday
Karate Dojos and swimming pools - the two places I spent most of Sunday - are not good for classic car spotting!

Re: Spotted Xantias! (and other French stuff)
Had forgotten that I grabbed a photo of that 106.
Today's French spot was over in Morrison's - where there was a silver G plate Pug 309 parked up. Sadly I was in a hurry at the time so didn't get a chance to go over and get a closer look.

Re: Spotted Xantias! (and other French stuff)
Saw a dk green Xantia waiting to enter the roundabout at Dartington from the Plymouth road Saturday morning; don't know my Xantias well enough to say any more, except it did have a spoiler & even I know they don't all have them.
Then coming back to Paignton, approaching my left turn off the Ring Road, I let an 02 plate Laguna cross in front of me, now in a place where Morris Minors, MGB's & the odd Stag are not uncommon (although I was a little surprised, & somewhat cheered to see a MkII Jag at one point) I wouldn't normally even notice such a thing. Then, parked in Hyde Road - a R5 GT & surprisingly, given the parking restrictions there, later in the afternoon, it was still there. Must belong to someone that works along there. I'd assumed these were all in the hands of enthusiasts who couldn't run to a Turbo but this one looked very average.
b-t-w, there only seem to be 2 French cars in Vietnam - & they're both in museums* Odd for a former French colony, but then there are very few old(er) cars at all: I saw a Lada, a MB 200 & a Jeep CJ7 + 2 MUTTs that weren't on our tour.
* Ho Chi Minh's 504 (somehat incongrously displayed with a huge Packardesque ZIL) & a Renault that belonged to some hero of the revolution: it looked like one of those Opels with the headlights tunnelled into the sides of the bonnet, now I know they were made under licence in France - but I thought by Simca, certainly not Renault!

Saw a very clean S-reg Xantia HDi in Waitrose in Twyford, and a Mauritius blue one with a knackered rear height corrector up at Santa Pod yesterday.
