I hope this isn't going to be a regular occurrence, I know they have to pay fines for dumping sewage into the river but people's houses....

No point in getting angry or upset about it as that really only makes it worse, so my attitude is get on with fixing it and look forward to a resumption of normality in due course! :-D
A good attitude :) As you say, sh1t happens!

Update!! Still waiting for the assessor!! Another engineer turned up at number 19 this morning so when he got back in his van I collared him and he came and saw the situation. He got onto his controller and explained the urgency of getting the assessment done so the cleaning team could get started. We had a discussion and he told me that they would cover the losses involved, espcially any electric equipment, so that was good news. He then told me that either Andy or Stan would be here today and they had the 'clout' to get things moving. Great I thought. No sign of them by lunchtime so, despite being told not to touch it before the assessment, I just didn't want to sit here twiddling my thumbs so I decided to clear all the unaffected stuff from the shelves to make them ready for ripping out after the assessment. I just hope we don't get too much wind!! :-D

Like you, Mick, I can accept that 'bad things happen' and there's no point getting annoyed, however..... Thames Water have just about tipped over the edge into incompetence and making things worse now by not sorting the issue promptly in my view
I think I'd be priming my rocket by now and getting ready to fire it at someone from Thames Water :grr: :taz:

I am a bit more tolerant but I have my limit. If the clean up has not begun in the next 24 hours I am going straight to the press because that is what brought results over our street flood a couple of years ago. With the convoluted structure I suspect it would take me forever to get through to senior management at Thames Water as I have already reported a 'new' fault today being my garden and garage covered in raw sewage!! :-D

A hard day's graft, everything cleaned, drive back to normal apart from the goodies for the scrap metal man and a garage full of cleaned wood for chopping and dumping tomorrow. Also once dry the floor is ready for painting and the new racking which is arriving on Monday, then its the simple job of putting everything that's in the tent back on the new shelves. Finally I have a bit of floor repair today towards the front before it will be ready for paint but we're getting there!! :-D
