Re: Key fob stopped working after BSI reset
You need to take that new fob to somewhere that has equipment to check that pressing the buttons actually has an effect. If they don't then not only can't you lock/unlock the car, you can't synchronise or resynchronise the fob.

Hi Marc, sorry the 'new' fob is 4 months old and all 3 buttons have been working fine - can open the boot with the middle button. This problem is a sudden change.GiveMeABreak wrote: 18 Dec 2024, 18:04 Some aftermarket fobs don't have the required circuit / electronics to operate the remote elements like the third button function or the locking. These have to be compatible for these functions to work as I’m guessing you're finding out .

Re: Key fob stopped working after BSI reset
Hi Paul, this was going to be my next question - what equipment is available for checking the button outputs.Paul-R wrote: 18 Dec 2024, 18:09 You need to take that new fob to somewhere that has equipment to check that pressing the buttons actually has an effect. But, I have an update: I have managed to get the remote to lock and unlock by pressing the buttons while pushing hard on the back cover. It seems there might be a battery contact issue. Or an issue with the board itself. The keyfob is an unbranded one with no chevrons on it. It does have the correct 3 buttons and the middle one has the boot open instead of headlights symbol. It appears decent quality internally but is a totally different internal structure to the original one where the board is semi loose in the casing and the battery fixes to the board. This has the board actually part of the half casing with the battery located in the other half - contacts meet when the two halves are clicked back together. I can't help but think this arrangement might be the issue.

Re: Key fob stopped working after BSI reset
I had the same problem with the new fob - the issue was slightly misaligned buttons. I figured that out by making direct contact on the board with the flat screwdriver (or anything else metal
).
I bought a new case and solved the issue.
