Just obtain your 3 alpha-numeric engine code from your VIN (the 6th, 7th & 8th characters) and look up the relevant country, then cross reference the 3 character engine code in the tables. All detailed in this post:

If there is any warranty on your car or any extensions Citroen might be allowing due to the known Puretech problems and if your car has always been dealer serviced, I would be tempted to let the dealer do the oil change. Buying the correct oil and filter can be around £50 to £60 so the dealer service is not that bad price wise. We have decided to follow this for our 2019 308 with the 1.5 hdi engine due to its timing chain problems.

Edit: meant the camshaft chain on the 1.5 hdi - as GiveMeABreak correctly pointed out in the next post.

That'll be the camshaft chain Paul, as the timing belt's a normal belt type.

No, not that one, you need this one:

https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-250431-tot ... tid=387557

As you can see on the back it clearly states PSA B71 2010 standards as stated in the guide I linked to.

Have just bought a c4 puretech 130 max. Asked dealer for service schedule and oil spec and he sent me what looks like an official Citroen service sheet with my vin and engine type EB2ADTS code HNS but it is specifying 5w 30 oil. On the Stellantis guide it is stating 0w 20. Has my dealer got this wrong by using outdated info from Citroen. I would have thought the service schedule document would self populate using the vin. My vin is VR7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

I want to do an interim service before 12k and 1 year and really want to use the best oil.

Citroen amended their email to me from 0w-30 to 0w-20 ONLY. I'm using 0w-20

Yes, they updates the guide this year and sometimes they forget to read them! It's correct in my guide anyway. 👍

The plot ( not the oil) thickens. Dealer insisting it’s 5w30. Citroen uk came back to my query and confirmed same. Call to customer service at Citroen and different assistant said that in the system using my vin it said 0w20 but in the service system it says 5 w 30. They are going to investigate and get back in a couple of days. Really surprising that this isn’t properly sorted by Citroen uk in its reference systems given the huge publicity given to oil related issues. ( wet belt/ consumption ).

@Davidcumbria: For your specific car, it is 5W30 shown on the current service for your vehicle (which is what the dealer will see when they come to service it), but the guide of July 2024 I wrote on the Forum still shows 0W20 for this engine, so let me know as I may have to check for the latest updates again if it has changed already....

The nature of these wretched EB2 wet-belt engines is probably why they are constantly changing oil grades backwards and forwards!

Citroen have reconfirmed 5w30. They asked where the 0w20 recommendation came from . Do you have a reference number for the Stellantis document or other way it can be identified?

Like I said the main PSA recommended oils document as of July 2024 still showed 0W20, but this may have been updated again as I said, as this was revision 122! So that's why I checked using your VIN and the official servicing schedule for your specific car as this should always be up to date, and correlates to 5W30 as I mentioned.

Given that there are constant changes to engine oil recommendations, I will probably retire the document I created as it is too unwieldly to frequently update.
