So you are quite a few versions behind, but there are risks with manually updating the firmware on this system that a reset will occur and will likely mean a dealer intervention to restore. So in this case I would suggest if you are wanting to update the firmware to the latest and last version (2.86) that you get the dealer to do for you - as if it goes toes up, they will have to restore it. Take a mirascripts backup of your user data in any case as per the guide and store it safely in case.

That's generally always a good idea, but no guarantees this will be any better.

My thinking here is that if you pat the dealer to update it for you via diagnostic time, and the unit resets, then they will have to get it back to operating state for you.

It's a risk, but also a choice, so as long as you're aware of the possible outcomes.
