Re rear door lock. It will fail again (soon), and a door failing to open is an MOT fail.
Rear doors only have to be able to open from the outside. Fronts, both inside and outside, but not rears. I know this as my rear passenger door didn't open from the inside for many, many years.

Similar in Ireland. All doors must open from the outside, but only the driver's door needs to open from the inside

I don't know which COM2000 you have just now, but you should be able to compare the existing one to the descriptions below. It's probably best to fit one with the same features...

Was a busy yet productive day. Besides my personal tasks , i was able to change 2 door openers from the inside (Front passenger and rear left) and now all doors can be opened from the inside. Other day, with more time , i'll share photos on what i found there as a previous repair.
Also checked all the vacuum lines and as able to find that the one that connects to the swirl valve actuator was broken. The actuator still holding vacuum , so i just changed the bit of tube and seems good to go. What was more amazing is that i was able to do that just removing the air filter top and not much more. Battery was disconnected, so i took it out and cleaned all negative connections that are on the battery side of the engine compartment. Good ground connection is of great help for the eletronics , so now i know that it will not be a problem. Soon want to do the same in the other side of the engine compartment. Finally later at night, opened the drivers windows / mirrors control to give it a good clean, as some of the switches were not working properly.

Oil is also changed and on (supposedly) correct level. Eletronic oil level and dipstick are not equal. I suspect dipstick is not original. Could someone post here a pic of the 2003-2004 2.2hdi dipstick so i can check if it is the same?

Took out a ton of debris from where the air enters into the car. Seems that that car spent a long time below trees. Now it's clean and water can pass. Also checked that at least the front sunroof drains are unclogged, so it seems that are 2 less possibilities to water to enter.

As the com2000 still out and open, and steering wheel, airbag and so is out, i could not put the engine to work, but i'm positive that swirl valve now will work properly. (Probably i could put engine to work and test, but then with com2000 out, i would have a lot of errors.

@aspire_helen , do you know any case when the air conditioned evaporators puts water to the left side footwell ? (Driver side in my country) Can't find a pic from that circuit, but it would certainly be useful to have a look on it. Thanks for the help :)

Step by step it's getting better.

@Ross_K , i think that i can get away just with the stalker for the lights / indicators , at least if i can put com2000 back together :D
I'm already talking with some people that has that material for sale. Hope to have it in my hands pretty soon

All doors are opening from inside and outside now. Let's hope they continue that way.

Re End stalk button. The end button can be easily levered out using a pair of fine instrument screwdrivers or scalpel blades ie with sharp points that will grip the sides of the plastic button. Underneath you will see a fine, copper contact ring. It is likely broken - it is common. If you cant repair the ring you will need a new stalk. There are aftermarket stalks available.
H
Need to swap the bulb from one side to other to see if it is the problem, but first need to find out how it is removed
Does it need to remove any bolt? I am well aware on how to do it on regular ones, with h7 / h1 and on the X7 xenon... But this one has been a real challenge (and i have more other things to do , so i end postponing the task)
There is a specific kit that is led but direct change, keeping the ballasts. Did change it already in other car.

As a side note, i don't think C5 I with Xenon had foglights.
Non Xenon cars have an H4 double filament bulb for highbeam and fogs.
I have various repair handbooks and wiring diagrams for C5 mk1, Xantia, XM, Berlingo and C3 mk1.
I have Lexia/Diagbox (Sweden) and Servicebox/sedre

PS: It's very nice to see someone else caring for a C5 mk 1, IMHO one of the best cars ever made.

I think you're right, @citroenguy , Mk1's with xenon had no fog lights - i wonder why... Mine, without xenon have the H4 like you mention for highbeam and fogs.
Mk1's are pretty, but the newer front (Mk2?) is also nice , and honestly , i dont't know if i dont prefer that one in terms of design.
X7's are beautiful and front seats are amazing - wish i could fit the front ones in my mk1 (I drive a X7 tourer in my job , currently) , but Mk1's are somehow special and IMHO , superior in some points.
I'd have one of each , if i could , and also an activa , a c6 and quite a few other Hydroneumatics. :D

I see in your signature that you have some repair handbooks for mk1 C5? That seems interesting. Does it cover the 2.2 hdi too?

Small update: Didn't do much this last few days , as i was waiting for the stalker to arrive. Just received it today (a repaired unit with new circuits, it has the double foglights, but the person who sold the part to me told me that it's not a problem as it should work the same).
Com2000 is now clean, lubricated and closed (didnt clean the ESP sensor - bit afraid to ruin it...) , but didn't tested it yet. Unsure if i can connect all the wires before put steering and airbag , just to test com2000 functionality? Probably some errors will appear , (airbag , for example) , but i'd prefer to test it before put it in place.
Let's see if tomorrow i have some time for it. :)

@citroenguy, from C5, I have just the workshop Manual from the X7 (2007-2017) and the "Revue Technique" from the mk1 in French.
Have also a bunch of fotos from several foruns and other webpages that have been helping me to understand my mk1's a bit better.

Today , the new acquisition evolved a bit. COM 2000 in back in place and it seems to work well :D
Position lights no more turn on when turning on the key and indicators seem to work well.
Left xenon light continues not to turn on , and i tried the other lamp in that side (Without being on its place , just on the piece that gives it energy - i think it should light up , but just does "bzt, bzt, bzt" (have a video of it) and no light. I suspect some wires are broken. Any suggestions?)
Fuel filter changed and a bit of polishing on the bonnet (paintwork is needing some care)
Swirl valve seems to be working - lets see

More updates tomorrow (i hope) ;)

Could be the ballast in the headlight, its a pretty common fault on old cars with xenon

Not driving yet the 2.2 , as there is 2 things i want to do before. Take care of the dpf , as it is clogged (P1448) , and change the timing belt (and all the stuff that is done at that time) , as i have no history of it being done in the past. The car has over 200k km and if it is the original timing belt , it may become a disaster pretty soon.

:?: Any particular advice on that operation on the 2.2 hdi? It will be an experienced mechanic doing that (not in citroens in particular) , but if there is any special advice i should give him , that would be great.

For now i've been taking care of some interior details , and exterior detailing (Polished all exterior and applied 2 layers of carnauba wax. Looks amazing)
Already tested that i can change the radio without losing the parking system - that's some great news.
Changing now the speakers and pretty soon will put the alpine that is on the 2.0 to the 2.2. That way i'll also have hands free for mobile phone.

I seem to remember that i had to change some wire that goes to the aftermarket radio in order to it keep memory while key is off (not entirely sure if it was that) in the 2.0 hdi. Let's see how it goes in the 2.2.

Bit by bit the C5 is becoming better. Can't wait to start driving her :-D

It may be, as i noticed that it gives a small flash, and then doesnt turn on the lamp...
Is there any simple way to test the ballast?

I think the similar era 406 2.2 HDi will be the same engine, so I'd pick up a copy of that Haynes (Number 3982)

E.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234750634889
Less than £4 on eBay

Haynes are far from perfect, but worth it as a reference given so cheap

Thanks for the suggestion, but i think that it will be done early next week , so not enough time to get a physical copy (Also the seller dont ship to my country). The only solution would be a pdf. I'll try to find some around the net :)
