Have a look at David's thread - you can see pictures of a when the gearbox cooler has failed.....

OMG...not there , no overheating, no gunk spilling out, dark bronze color in the coolant reservoir, gears shift normally. So, i guess we are left with either engine oil or rust (car was not maintained by me and dont know whether coolant was used or plain water🙄)

Probably simplest to drain and flush the coolant and replace with fresh and see how it looks after a couple of weeks.

GiveMeABreak wrote: 06 Feb 2022, 12:27 You haven't included the fifth code. You really need ALL these as the faults can present 'knock-on' faults as a result of other faults.

These are the descriptors for the 4 you have provided:

Fault Code: P0A1A
Description of Fault: Signal from the piloted alternator (BSS line): Value received incorrect. The following conditions have to be met:
- Engine management ECU in main triggering phase
- Communication with alternator valid

Possibility 1
Detection of a loss of communication on the line BSS (No synchronisation on the line) : The time of appearance of the fault code is 0,05s
Possibility 2
The communication manager BSS is in timeout: The time of appearance of the fault code is 0,05s
Conditions for Fault to clear: Communication with the piloted alternator in conformity : For at least 0,05 s
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
Symptoms: Unstable idling, Idle speed too high
Suspect Areas: Electrical harness, Alternator

Fault Code: P0945
Description of Fault: Oil pressure regulation solenoid valve control : Open circuit. Detection of an open circuit on the control of the oil pump pressure regulation electrovalve.

The following conditions have to be met
- Engine management ECU in main triggering phase
- Battery voltage between 9 and 17,9 V
- engine running
- Power relay jammed for more than 2 seconds
Conditions for Fault to clear: Absence of the fault codes P0945, P0947, P0948 for 1 s
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: Change to "mechanical mode" on the piloted oil pump
Symptoms: -
Suspect Areas:
  • Electrical harness
  • Oil pressure regulation solenoid valve
  • Oil pump
  • Engine ECU

Fault Code: U0140
Description of Fault: CAN network : Communication fault with the BSI ECU. No communication with the BSI (CAN network disconnected; Short-circuit on the CAN High/CAN Low line; Loss of information on the CAN network)

The following conditions have to be met
- Engine management ECU in main triggering phase
- Engine running for 2,5 s
Conditions for Fault to clear: The fault disappears after a certain number of consecutive datastreams received without any fault
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: Deactivation of the air conditioning
"reverse gear" information from the BSI not taken into account
Deactivation of the vehicle cruise control and speed limiter
Information "brake uncertain" sent on the CAN network
Deactivation of the "pedal jammed" diagnostics
Deactivation of the additional heating element
Activation of the catalytic converter heating no longer dependent on the engine stopping time
Activation of downstream sensor heating diagnostics no longer dependent on the engine stopping time
Activation of upstream sensor heating diagnostics no longer dependent on the engine stopping time
Mixture adaptation and combustion mode modified
Starting impossible
Alternator always activated on starting
Temperature of the alternator no longer dependent on the engine stopping time
No use of the fuel level as a model for fuel temperature
Deactivation of diagnostics of the plausibility of the maximum/minimum petrol level
Symptoms: Unstable idling, Lack of power, Engine hesitation, Excessive fuel consumption, Activation of the vehicle cruise control impossible, Down-graded cabin heating
Suspect Areas:
  • Electrical harness
  • Engine management ECU
  • Built-in systems interface

Fault Code: P0016
Description of Fault: Synchronisation : Lack of coherence between the engine speed sensor information and the inlet camshaft sensor information. Dephasing too great between the inlet camshaft and the crankshaft.

The following conditions have to be met
- engine running
- Inlet camshaft in the reference position
- Synchronisation done
- No error on the inlet camshaft signal
Conditions for Fault to clear: After several engine rev cycles without any error in the dephasing between the inlet camshaft and the crankshaft
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Blocking of the ignition/fuel injection in the synchronisation checking phase (After engine restart)
  • Prohibiting of adaptation and control of the inlet camshaft
Symptoms: Starting difficult, Emissions outside the norms
Suspect Areas:
  • Inlet cylinder reference sensor
  • Inlet variable timing electrovalve
  • Dephaser
  • Setting the timing
Hi

Dephaser - which part is it? :?:

Ok, so I can't keep up with your vehicles - so you have a garage or something?

What's the VIN for this one?

😂

I was just referring to the "dephaser" mentioned in the code description (p0016), not specifically to my car.

Can you indicate the part number for the mentioned dephaser? For the car in question

Thx

So what does a 'dephaser' do?

It moves the timing of one camshaft relative to the crankshaft. Some engines have just one on the inlet camshaft, and some engines have one on each camshaft .
