So does this tell me the crankshaft position sensor is good? Still can't find info for cam & crank sync, should there be any anywhere ? Sorry if these are draft questions.

Yes, if it shows a cranking speed, then it knows it is going round, so the sensor is OK. There may not be a cam / crank snych point - I've not looked at any petrol engines, so can't say for sure. You maybe need some old school work first - does it smell of petrol when cranking it, suggesting that it is injecting fuel but no spark? Alternative if there's no smell of petrol, then is there a spark? Does it say in the engine ECU somewhere 'unlocked' suggesting it has detected, and approved, the key?

Unlocked status may be found in the BSI, actually, can't remember exactly!

Yeah there is a smell of fuel when cranking + I can hear the pump priming with ignition on. Yes I saw that the ECU was 'unlocked' in one of the menus.

Yeah I'll need to check the basics next, I'll look at spark first. I just wish i had a code or two to send me in the right direction!
