Not really, I don't really want an Activa automatic ;). I'll see what I can find.

Hi, welcome.

Just wondering why would you buy a V6 Activa and taking that engine out to fit into a CT Activa?

Wouldn't it be better to just refurbish the V6 Activa? Transferring interior, panels, wheels over instead?

That would probably be a lot better, though it would obviously depend on the condition of that v6 Activa. The thing is I can't keep two Activas on the road (because of road tax and insurance), and I can't sell this one either. I got this one from my grandparents, sort of for my 18th birthday, under the condition that I wouldn't sell it or do away with it otherwise. It had to remain in the family, as it had been for almost twenty years. My grandparents just couldn't get into the Xantia comfortably anymore as they got older (well into their eighties), and it developed some problems as well. It had been sitting for three years or so with hydraulic issues when I got it in january 2017. My grandparents wouldn't mind if I put in a v6 btw. My grandfather used to run a car dealership and was also a mechanic himself. He likes these things, and he also liked project aircon last year. My grandmother just loves the fact that I'm really enjoying their old car now and keeping it in good condition ;).
The engine it has now has never really been running that well since I got it, it stutters a lot and its power just drops a lot after, say, 4500rpm. Its top speed is now about 193km/h on the speedometer, which should obviously be a lot higher (220+), so it's clearly missing a lot of power (~30hp?), but it still seems to have all the torque it should have. I've already renewed everything igniotion-wise and the injectors seem fine, and it's got decent compression. It seems the valve clearences have to be adjusted, but I'd rather not do that on a TCT myself . Many other things around the engine have to be replaced as well (at least one engine mount, crackshaft pulley, etc) and rather than fixing up the TCT, I decided I wanted to have a look at swapping the engine for a v6. I have already driven a v6 Activa, and I really liked it. I just don't tend to like turbocharged engines that much in general, though the TCT is certainly one of the nicer ones I've driven (at least it's not downsized...). The v6 just pulls absolutely everywhere in the rev range, you don't have to worry about it being on-boost (obviously). Way more comfortable while driving around town (in the sub-2000rpm rev range) and it just keeps pulling. And of course, the sound and vibrations (or lack of the latter of those) are pretty much unmatched by any four cylinder engine. I'd love to have one of those ;).
I'm afraid this project probably won't be happening soon though, as I'm now struggling with a lack of funds and I'm sort of afraid I just wouldn't be able to pull of an engine swap like this. And I still haven't found a suitable donor car yet either. I would certainly reconsider the project if conditions were better though, perhaps next summer. I'm not forgetting about it yet.
Sorry for the late reply btw, I was on holiday last week (and didn't bring back a v6 ;))
