He's not dead yet! The Beeb brought him out of retirement only last October on the anniversary of the '87 storm.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

That really did make him famous... It just proves the old saw that any publicity is good publicity ;)

He must cringe inwardly every time it comes up though...

Speaking of which, did you see that notorious obnoxious and despicable old so-called 'publicist' Max Clifford shuffled off his mortal coil today? Wonder what sort of spin he'll put on that event once he reaches Dante's' Inferno?

Don't often say such things, but really pleased to see the last of Max Clifford. A parasitic and poisonous individual.
I sometimes get him confused with Kelvin Mackenzie.

I think he's more annoyed than cringing. What he reported that night was technically correct - there wasn't a hurricane on the way because we don't get hurricanes here. What we did get was hurricane force winds

plenty of it here, I measured 4 inches on the garden table and that's in the lea of the house. Also had a power outage for 4 hours ish.

Nice to see people out & about in the village though and everyone saying Hello & chatting, many of them strangers, in the course of walking up & down the road; pretty too!

We decided that we needed to visit relatives and get warm (leccy only here so it was getting chilly), but after a little to'ing & fro'ing and digging to get the car out of its parking spot (parallel parking), a neighbour shouted that the power was back on.... and so I had to do a bit more digging to get it back in! Missus was relieved, I had mixed emotions, nothing like a bit of gently, gently snow driving for reminding yourself how to drive smoothly, with maximum anticipation and extreme caution.

Good job it started instantly after the most appallingly sluggish turn on the key, with the battery only being top up charged Thurs just gone: took the opportunity while I had it off in order to re-unite half a litre of EP 75-80 with the 'box. Good job I'd put a catch tray beneath the shaft - 'box joint, I knew I'd likely pull it out accidentally at some point, this time I managed not to notice

...mostly due to a lengthy and tiring fight with the Bottom Ball Joint, which just would NOT split; never known that before, it's always responded readily to a sharp belt on the end of the wishbone with a lump hammer. Ended up borrowing a Ball Joint splitter (with many thanks). Nearly new BJ perhaps a touch bigger than the old one.

I fear its gonna be an expensive winter. Front tyres are 3/4 worn too. Dammit! Anyone got an 096 Battery and a pair 175, 70, 14's in decent nick? 185 and 195's also acceptable, similarly 65 profile. 'Offset' on the rims is about 97mm; Mk1 C3 Rims fit.

That's a very polite way of describing the disgusting filthy perverted arsehole. One can only hope there really is a hell, and he rots in it.

Now now Jim, stop being politically selective, the Mirror, the Independent, the Guardian et al are all at it, pandering to their target audience to sell their tat.

More snow here than I've seen since I moved in 22 years ago, shovelling time I think....if I can find my wellies and gloves. :)

Power stayed on here but a lot of the nearby areas were off for about six hours, not good when there's no longer the open fireplace alternative available.
