I HATE squint numberplates! Good car, nice colour. If I ever have another it will be blue or red. I always thought my silver one looked boring, although it wasnt!

Much better, can't abide a wonky plate. It irks me enough that just the screw holes aren't symmetrical on the 206 let alone if the plate was on the wonk :?

What I would like to know is, is it worse that the wonky screws do my head in to the point that I notice them first every time I'm sat near the front of the car, OR the fact that I will not drill a third hole in the bumper & buy a new plate to make them line up?

Actually I can't be all that OCD otherwise I'd have had done with it and fixed those screws a while ago, along with replacing the cracked "chrome" inserts around the air intake on the GTi bumper! :D Can't be too obsessive over this car though, whatever I do it'll still have a wavy roof panel and lacquer peel with it :( Shame as I love the Mercury Grey colour, similar enough to Quartz that the mirror trims don't stand out as wrong but just that bit darker and with a bit of pearlescence makes it feel much more exclusive than the ubiquitous EYC... Now off out for a picnic on my bike... More 'happy'...

For those who were curious about respray costs. Just been to a body repair shop, they want £90 just to do the lacquer peel on 1 door. To respray the whole car is £1200 to £1500.

That's not bad for a full car respray - I was variously quoted a lot more than that for a decent one....

Worth it in my opinion...

New plate, and "No more Nails" double-sided tape to stick it on. No holes or wonky screws to annoy me then..

I'm like that. Imagine to my horror recently when I hung our telly on the wall between 2 wall mounted lights.. I measured the distance between the lights, got the TV dead centre. Used a spirit level to check it was level...

I didn't notice one of the wall mounted lights is about 3cm higher than the other. It looks completely ridiculous now! Rented, I'm not going to be rewiring someone else's screw up!

Ive just stuck a new numberplate on the front of lilpug. No screws, decent double sided tape. I like no screws. I got a matching rear plate too, it will be fitted once the faded bumper is painted to match the front.

Never going to forget the day I watched the boss of the garage I worked at for a while putting a new plate on the front of his car at the time (Omega 2.5TD, nice driver actually). What he didn't realise when drilling the holes is that directly behind the front number plate on the Omega is where the washer bottle lives!

You can figure out what happened in the next 30 seconds...

Well i just went down to get her booked in for a full respray  , although it won't be until 25th September and be in for 10 days . As i'm driving out of this industrial estate another Xantia is heading in towards me which is a rare sight anyway now, but even rarer it was another Activa. Had to stop and talk, it was Dommo's on here car, but his brother was driving it today.

Looking forward to seeing the results of the respray ;)

Another Activa? Did you catch who it was? Good chance we know of it...

Davie, you'll be pleased to find (when I see you in September) both of my XM registration plates are both centred and straight . . . and tidily rivetted: the sun here isn't kind to d/s tape or pads - a different sort of pingf*#k. #-o
