Don't forget I am used to hydrophumatics Jim, have run them for the last 30 years so I'm used to a nice soggy ride, in fact I find the 406 a bit on the hard side in comparison, the difference is that the C5 goes more or less where it wants to, the 406 on the other hand immediately responds to steering input and gives you a sense of confidence without shaking your fillings loose like most modern cars, also the visibility is much better than in the C5, it has the best headlights of any car I have ever driven and will do 60+mpg

I must give to a go in an Activa Peter! Feel the absolute delight of a firm but very comfy ride with none of the sogginess. I guarantee you'll be converted for life!

Re: Citroen safety film, early seventies
then add in the V6 torque and it changes the car even more
...............I feel a small "Spring Time South West Meet-up" needs arranging
I still think wind noise is the fault the Xantia cannot overcome, esp with a window cracked for ventilation....or it could be my sunroof not seating right

You're on Peter
I think a south-west meetup is an excellent idea Alasdair
Sunroofs in Xantias are terribly noisy in my experience.. One of the downsides of them sadly

Possibly the 504 as well? Can't say I've ever tried one but I've always had a suspicion its the best Peugeot.CitroJim wrote: The best cars Pug ever made were the 205 and 405...
My favourite I've had has to be mk1 hydractive Xantias, for the ride, the odd sound and the handling.
The favourite I haven't had is the mk1Cx or Mk1 Activa. I hope to rectify this in the near future.

Believe it or not I had a diesel 404, that was a nice car for its time, superbly comfortable and the best column change I have ever driven, the only real problem was that you couldn't hear yourself think at 60 mph.

Re: Citroen safety film, early seventies
Just watched that film again, and spotted another. All in Italian, but the images make up for much. Again a film from the seventies. 15mins long:
