Yes, it does Adam. Ex-SWMBO has a very lovely Springer and she keeps her regularly clipped and bathed so she always smells sweet and looks smart.

She uses a mobile dog-grooming service; a girl in a tranny van with a dog bath and grooming tools in the back.

I see you have excellent taste in dogs  One day when I retire and have the time I'll be having a dog and it'll be a Springer :-D Love 'em to bits. Their personality and mine are not too dis-similar...
The Activa is good fun and so far has never failed to make me smile! :)

I love Springers too. They're always excitable and friendly, if a little ditzy at times! This is our 3rd now, Sheba and my Uncle and Grandfather used to keep them as working gun dogs too. This one is a sort of rescue dog, as her previous owners decided they no longer wanted her and were going to see about having her put down. Luckily we heard about her "through the grapevine" of friends, etc and stepped in. She can be quite a naughty dog at times, but we all love her to bits.

If she is, I've trained her well! She'd be even better if they made spanner-shaped Dentastix!

Well, this one is spoilt to a trim and brush up. The company is called 'Doggie Fashion' of all things! Not something you'd want to be looking for in a search engine at work!!

Hear, hear. I would recommend an Activa to anyone now I've driven one. I do miss a bit of straight line acceleration though, that you get in the CX or a BX 16v. Perhaps a boost control valve is on the horizon...........

I think you would be much more impressed after fitting an manual boost controller, as they really do make a difference. I couldn't believe how much difference after driving a standard one and then my one. Im quite happy with the performance of mine, ive not had much need for more power, it usually surprises a few people

I have far too much fun pushing mine through corners, cornering it on the throttle while sitting perfectly level. :-D

She looks lovely, quite how her previous owners could think of having her put down is beyond me  I suggest they still go to the vets but instead have themselves put down

Its an awful thought that a healthy dog should be put to sleep, though it happens frequently. Due to our many animals I usually take a trip to the vets frequently, has been every week recently. They tell me about how many dogs they get in to be put to sleep because the owner can not haldne them, because of a costly operation they need or just because they are no longer fit for purpose (working dogs etc). They sometimes manage to get the owner to sign the dogs over to them, but usually they go through with the owners wish. :(

I've seen the other end of that situation, though.

It seems many dog fosterers are simply too put-upon for anyone's good, including their own state of existence. In a nutshell, you have low income people supporting the discarded foibles of wealthier people. Fair? - I think not. And the "stray dogs' home" type places still have generally (long term) a high rate of animals put down. Whether or not people give them money, doesn't affect this statistic much - it does perhaps go towards more vaccinations and desexing - however animals are frequently "rehomed" at an age too early for desexing and the new owner never follows through.

An Activa and Springer. Life doesn't get much better than that Dom :-D

I love the picture. Typical Springer pose with stick in mouth :)

Crikey, its been a while since I've posted! As many of you will know, blue Activa is gone. But, I have returned to the Xantia family with a S1 V6. After I had a taster in the S2 (I should have bought) at the CX/Xantia Rally, I've had a hankering for one. Only had it a week or so, vut really enjoying the car at the moment. Only niggle is the temperature gauge is slow rise and under reads. Every now and then it'll give a STOP flicker of lights. Plenty of water and not losing any. Plugged the Lexia in tonight and the temperatures are good and the fans cut in at the right time. Just annoying the gauge doesn't work.

Photos to follows!...

Ahh, welcome to the world of V6 motoring Dom...It's recommended... :-D It's nice you have an S1 too. They're the best ones...

No worries on the temperature gauge - that's normal...

The (blue) sensor for the gauge is effectively in the bottom hose so it does appear to under-read and take a time to rise...

The Coolant Temperatue Sensor (green) that Lexia sees is more conventionally placed in the top hose...

I thought you might end up with one eventually

They are certainly an excellent piece of kit, I can see myself returning to V6 ownership at some point.

Thanks for the comments, I'm pleased with it. With only a few hundred miles under my belt, I've not ventured into sport mode much! But I do love the sound of a V6. Doesn't even need to be particularly fast, just that noise. Bit of a shame the Xantia is too refined to hear it properly. Well, compared with everything else I drive anyway.

Good plumbing on an ES9J then? Should I worry about the red lights flickering on or is that normal too? Happened twice now, both at motorway speeds. No longer than a couple of seconds. Bled the radiator in case of an airlock, but with no effect.

Got the cruise fixed and you can tell it's a mile eater on the motorway. Haven't tried to work out what it is (or isn't!) doing MPG wise yet. I keep telling myself it can't be worse than the CX Turbo. Am I right in thinking late 20s?

In terms of other fleet notes, still have most of the previous and another GS (project). Done quite a number of miles in the black Turbo over the last 12 months and touch wood only a few LHM leaks, throttle cable snapped (whilst overtaking! [-o< ), air leak and alternator. Not bad for a car that hadn't been used for 3 years. Also resurrected my favourite CX estate with a few improvements to DTR T2 standard.

In other news I bought a LR Discovery II TD5 as a replacement tow vehicle for the older 300 TDis I had. Looks the part and a step up from the original, but still not enjoyable to drive. Every journey is an uncomfortable one. Should have bought a C6 instead. #-o

P.S. The dog is doing well too!! :-D

Yes, you should easily see high 20s if not low 30s on a good run. On shorter distances and around town, I would rather not think about it. No worse than an Activa though!

Not if you wanted to tow anything! Have you seen their towing limit? Only 1400kg! My C5 will tow 1700kg

High 20s I can live with.....just about! I'd like to take it on a long run. These V6s are hardly working at 70. I drove a VR6 Corrado at the weekend and the ratios on that had the revs a few notches higher at those sorts of speeds.

Thats pretty poor! Just as well that local 06 plate has disappeared off ebay. Theres some reasonably priced C5 Tourers around (usually with mega miles), but I'm not quite sold on those yet.
