It also has a BX glow plug relay.
The other way of doing the ignition switch is to use a 2 1/4 petrol one and the coil feed supplies power to the fuel solenoid
Crank, no start....

That's what we're going for. There were two types of ignition barrel - steering lock and no steering lock, and I need the steering lock petrol one for conversion. I'll probably fit a timer relay to take care of the glow plugs.moizeau wrote: 21 Jun 2026, 19:25

Not sure how we're going to route the air intake and filter yet. We can keep the battery tray in its original location, just modify its mount. I'll have to source a 2.25 intake manifold though as the 2.5 points in the wrong direction.
I worked out that it's probably been off the road and in storage longer than it was on the road. It's a 1975 one so that's going some
There's a lot more to do - rear crossmember, a small bit of welding in the footwell, overhaul the gearbox and overdrive one day, fit a removable gearbox crossmember. Loads of other stuff which is more cosmetic. It's not been connected to a battery for years so I've no idea if all the wiring harness smoke has escaped or not

Excellent read Bobins
Nothing like letting a project nicely mature before getting well and truly stuck into it..
The diesel pump will be no problem. At least it's not armoured
