Noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. A squirrel ascending one of the trees outside, about fifteen feet from me. Scared by an approaching dog.
Some crap phone photo'. It has problems focusing sometimes.

After the dog had gone, of course, by the time I got the phone. Proper cameras too far away.

Took this yesterday, fungus growing on a tree, much higher up than usual. Taken from a distance as the tree is inaccessible.
This worked far better than expected as it was so blurry it was impossible to see the fungus, this is just pure luck pointing it in the general direction.

A very cheeky squirrel!

Here's what you should see in a bit over 9 hours - new moon very close to Venus:

Unlikely to be seeing anything in the sky tonight, chucking it down here and solid clouds.

That's the first sqrrl* that I have seen in the street and probably the last as they are going to remove all the trees next year. There are thousands of them in the park that starts 100 yards from my front door.

My last house backed onto the forest, I was able to lie in bed and watch the squirrels chasing round and round the oak trees, amazing agility.

Where I lived in the UK there were lots of Grey squirrels but no reds which I believe were killed by a virus carried by but not affecting the Greys
In 21 years in France I've never seen a Grey squirrel but last year saw my first & only Red running across the road in front of my car.

My first job back in 1950 as at a garage opposite Sutton Park, back then plenty red squirrels ran along the boundary fences, we were told they were driven out by the greys.

Named when the country was going through a period of severe vowel shortage. Their national stock of the letter u has never fully recovered...

It was a bit chilly this morning when I went out for my run... Cold enough for snow

Deer.4.jpg
We had a new friend a couple of weeks ago, I would have put the first sighting on the first day but we have had on internet for 2 weeks. Its the closest I have been to a deer to get pictures.

Sadly we found it dead about a week ago.

Yes we were very sorry. They were having a cull at the farm and I suspect it was hit but not immediately fatally.

Ah I get you it's sad but with no natural predators it's a necessary evil
