92 espace v6 clutch problem

92 espace v6 clutch problem
it has become very difficult to select gears especially reverse in my 92 v6 espace. I presume it will need a new clutch as i can select gears if the engine is not started. My question is... is this a job for the garage or can it be done at home.

Hi there,
I had the same problem with my V6. The clutch did need replacing and unless you have a vehicle lift which will lift the car off the wheels is not a job for the home. It is also expensive!! I would suggest that while the garage has the gearbox out to get them to check the slave cylinder as if this goes then the box has to come out again (Again I learnt this from experience)
Perhaps as a first suggestion you could try and bleed the system.
