None of those appeal Mick, the 2CV plum and custard looks ok.

I'm going to give this one the benefit of the doubt, and categorise it as reasonably pleasant for a Volkswagen Beetle.

Those were the colours of my boss' Oxford estate that I used to drive more than he did. 1965-ish.

Have I got a 2-toner for you! Spotted parked in Armidale (NSW), it appears to still be in regular use, as it still has full original registration (& I have recently seen it again). Sorry about the blurring of the front shot - as my shadow reveals, this was a phone snap - either the phone was trying to be clever, or there was a smear on the lens. Actually, the information from the NSW govt website shows that these days it's not doing very many km (may possibly be miles, but still not a lot).

Despite dating from 1959 (!!!!), it appears remarkably rust free, so possibly has been living further west, in a drier climate. As you can see it features a roo bar (perspex), driving lights, whip aerial (so presumably press-button radio), rear dust deflectors, tow bar (with stabiliser fitting) and air brakes. The stabiliser and air brakes suggests it must have been regularly used to tow something substantial, like a caravan. I assume that the reversing lights are also an after-market addition.

The number plate was actually issued in 1973, but there are many reasons for changing plates, such as losing one on a corrugated gravel road, or moving interstate (one of the most frustrating side effects of our federation of separate colonies on 01/01/1901).

PS - Mk II Zephyrs were built in Australia from 1956 to 1962, so this one is almost certainly a local product.

Don't think I have ever see a Zephyr estate.

Correction: There was a hearse a few miles from here, either a Zephyr or Zodiac. I can't see a difference if there is one.

Wow! That brochure is quite a find Neil!!

In the diagrams at the bottom of the page it looks more normally proportioned than in the artist's impression, where it looks even longer than the Australian version that I photographed!!

I've shoved a bit of verbiage and links on the Estates/Shooting Brakes/Station Wagons Gallery about the mkii Zephyr Estates. There is a particularly good article linked to from Classic and Sportscar which does feature a Zephyr estate that, finished in 2-tone (as were all the "Farnham" conversions) this one being in Arundel Grey over Newark Grey.
Which do you reckon is the darker shade :?:
