C5 X7 Jacking for Major Work

It is a long time since I last removed a gearbox but it was on a Saab 9000 and a big heavy thing. I used an engine crane to lower it down onto some thick cardboard so it could then be slid out from under the car. If you are going to use long bolts without the bolt head to slide the gearbox sideways, I would cut slots into the ends of them so a screwdriver can undo them. Threaded bar might work just as well and can be bought from places like Toolstation.
