C5 1.6 THP Fault Codes P1336. P1337.P1339, P0087

Hello looking for some advice

I have a 1.6 pertrol THP Citroen C5 mileage is 45K that has been giving me cold start misfires the codes are:- P1336. P1337 (no1 cylinder), P 1339 (no 3 cylinder). I would reset them and the car would run fine apart from slight hesitation during under load. I changed the spark plugs and swapped over the coils but the misfire still was showing on No 1 & 3 cylinders.

This lasted about two weeks now a new Code has appeared P0087 Fuel circuit pressure in injector rail lower than the setting. Also me DIY scanner tells me that when in live data there is a failure to Petrol rail pressure and the reference pressure is 150 bar.

Can anyone tell me if this information is indicating that the High Pressure Fuel Pump is starting to fail?

It does point towards a failing fuel pump. It might be worth checking the pressure from the feed pump in the tank (should be 5 bar I think), but if that is OK, I think you will need to try replacing the HPFP.

Thanks for getting back to me. Do you have any tips on how I check the pressure from the fuel tank pump?

There should be a test point at the fuel line connector which sits above the top engine mount. Obviously you need to have a gauge of an appropriate range with the correct fitting.

Hi did you manage to find the cause of your misfires? I've got a DS3 1.6 Thp with the exact same faults,P1337,P1339 and P0087

Yes it did fix the cold start misfires and low fuel pressure fault code when I replaced the high pressure fuel pump.

has anyone tried to just replace the fuel filter?

Most of us are in countries where PSA did not fit a fuel filter, as the petrol is considered to be clean. I don't know if that applies to your country, but if a filter is fitted, it will be in the pipe near the fuel tank and should be easy to change.

is it possible to have low compression in one of the cylinders and get P1339 error?

so my car has a fuel filter which i have now replaced, but this has not solved the issue and I am still facing P1339 error. could it be due to bad fuel in the tank?

P1339 comes up as a bad crankshaft position sensor , sorry if this is wrong , but ive seen tons of posts on the net and many say bad crankshaft position sensor maybe its dirty ?

Can anyone recommend a workshop manual for my car, where to buy?

i want to check the injectors but cant find any. reference to what is holding the manifold. i have found 3 nuts anything else?
