Finally stopped deliberating almost and am about to order.white exec wrote: ↑14 Nov 2020, 17:47 Try to avoid worm/jubilee-type clips on small pipes like these. Better to use a decently circular hose clip - the sort that are nipped up with a pair of pincers. Plenty of assorted sizes boxed-kits on Amazon.
It's not the sort of pipe that you'll need to regulatly undo, hopefully.
I'm thinking of going for 4mm ID and 8mm ID. Is that overkill?
Also I was looking at these clamps, as these clip nicely and can be used with a pair of pliers otherwise I'll have to buy pincers too.
Whaddya reckon Chris?

Though I am sure this would come in handy. Just don't want to fork out £20

Do you happen to know what the standard Citroen clips are called? I thought they were R-type. Searching for that brings up the pliers but not the clips?
EDIT: They are Clic or Clic-R Pliers. Damned if I can find clips for them though.
EDIT 2: Would I be right in thinking using Clic-R pliers rather than pincers forms the little 'nodule' you see on the pipe clip you see on our cars?
FINAL EDIT (Promise): Our cars use Clic clamps and they are trademarked by a company called Caillau. Clic clamps only go down to 11.5mm. so are no use for this issue. I guess many have already been through this process of checking...

I bought this one from Amazon.uk
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Proster-Single ... ces&sr=1-1
Didn't particularly need the long-handle pincers, as I already had a pair.
I think you might find this kit without the pincers if you search.
Pincers are needed to get the correct 'nip'.
Have used on quite a few small round hoses, and they work well.

That's the same kit as I posted previously.white exec wrote: ↑23 Nov 2020, 13:16 I bought this one from Amazon.uk

Then I found THIS:-
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07SJKKBTY
It's offering me £4 Amazon Prime Savings so only £15.99. I did wonder if Proster was a known quantity ie OEM manufacturer? The Proster one goes down to 6mm..
Did the clips come in a plastic case with your Proster one, Chris?

All ordered.
Amazon have done some Used- Very Good Draper Clic-R Pliers for only £9.11. They were £13.02 and probably just an opened customer return. I think I might have bought the last one. Great value if anyone needs any.
Finally get another job done on the HDi!!! YAY!

Yes the same box - a double-decker - two layers of compartments.

Re: Xantia HDi Front Offside Hydraulic Pipe
Morning folks
Still not got around to doing the repair on the Xantia but definitely going to hopefully do it tomorrow. Just need to buy some green blood.
Question if I may.
I am aware it has leaked an amount from the broken pipe and the car is on its haunches.
So I put more fluid in to replace that which has leaked.
Am I right in thinking that it will not immediately leak out again? The broken pipe is the offside steel return from the suspension leg. Am I right in saying it only leaks out as the car gradually sinks?

Ahh but Roger, tomorrow never comes... Go do it today
Yes, I think you may be right Roger... It will certainly not leak very much with the suspension set at a height...
I'd set the car on high and leave it there... I've always noted that they take a whole lot longer to sink from full high than they do to sink from the normal ride height setting...

Re: Xantia HDi Front Offside Hydraulic Pipe
Well. I finally got around to looking at the suspension pipe.
Made for a slightly depressing day.
I cannot see how I can repair it without taking the engine out...
Give me some hope PLEASE!
I've had a right good root around. I cannot tell if it cannots to the brake doseur valve or whether it runs along the bulkhead. It seriously looks as if it has to come out to repair it. Too tight to even get in and cut the pipe or manipulate it in any way.
I cannot even see how it clips into the clip. Does it just push in? If so, I can probably lever it out at the risk of snapping it where the corrosion is. I might then be able to drop it down a bit to get the pipe and clip on.

Re: Xantia HDi Front Offside Hydraulic Pipe
What pipe is it Roger? Can you determine where it starts and ends? If you can then you could make up a new pipe, re-route it safely and conveniently and simply leave the old pipe in-situ...
Or remove as much as you can. If it breaks as you lever it out of the clip ten no worries, it might even make it easier to remove!
