Hi all I am hoping someone on here may be able to help me. I've just bought a narrowboat with a peugeot engine. Block tag say PTC Type 162. Cylinder head has 4.7kw stamped by the thermostat housing which is all metal.
I need a new cylinder head after the cambelt snapped and basically it's now no good and cannot be repaired. I belived the engine was a 1.8d. But now believe it's a 1.9d as the bore size is 84mm.
Can anyone help or advise also.anyone have a cylinder head.
Thanks John

Re: Peugeot Narrowboat Engine
The block label 162 identifies it as an XUD9 (1.9) engine.
161A = XUD7 (1.7/1.8).
So the same as our blue smurf project above.
Haynes' manual #1379 (Diesel Engine) covers this engine really well.
We're also about to expand our Mechanics' booklets library, and this will include BX etc, and those engines.
Should be available by the end of this month.

Yes that`s a trusty old XUD. and your right, the whole head will be shot. Have a word with Dean Hunter www.peugeotparts.co.uk he will have a head ready to fit and will supply all the necessary parts to do the job.
