Just had a look at the link Mike T posted and if the blade is ok to swap would this not do the job, okay it needs to be programmed to the car but a lot cheaper ?

No - that's the wrong blade Colin - that's an HU83, he needs a VA2.

Does he not mean just keeping his original already cut key blade? If so then even if the new key comes with the incorrect blank blade then it can be swapped over from the original key.
Out of curiosity how do you know which key blank it takes from the VIN? I've never seen this listed on Citroen service.

Yes of course if he is keeping his blade, shouldn't be a problem.
As for the blade type, it's a matter of researching it from the correct part numbers and cross referencing with main suppliers to ensure the correct type.

Sorry marc yes i meant if the key itself was ok then that could be swapped into the remote, and Mike T has proved the internals work

Re: Citroen C4 2006 key replacement
Yes, I didn’t refer him to that link initially as it was a different vehicle and may have had a different model Colin. It’s why I wanted the correct part number first, so a better chance of getting the correct one to start with after I’ve seen so many people waste their time with dodgy units.

OK, I just got the key and planning to try programming on weekend. I checked some instructions and it seems I need some code, but I´m not sure we had that "key-card" with the car when we bought it. Can I find out the code needed somehow, for example in service.citroen.com?

Re: Citroen C4 2006 key replacement
You will need to go to a Citroen dealership with the paperwork that proves you are the registered keeper of the vehicle. Assuming Citroen are satisfied with that they can let you know what the four digit code is. They may charge you a fee for this.
You will need to do ALL of the keys (including any that are currently working), as any keys that are not done during the programming session are 'forgotten', and will stop working until they are re-introduced to the vehicle.

Dealer only - you can't access it from Citroen online. Take Passport or similar, utility bill to prove address and vehicle ownership.Xantippa wrote: ↑09 May 2019, 19:12 OK, I just got the key and planning to try programming on weekend. New (and old key) programmed. It was very easy after watching a couple of instruction videos. Local main dealer even gave the code for free. Now we have new working remote key and it cost about 10€.

Great, my dealer didn’t charge me either. I think it’s who you know, like everything else...
