Re: Air con again!!
I just ran a search and that part number doesn’t come up for any model. So it is likely the international part number for an older PSA part number. The part number I quoted was a superseded replacement part, so that number you have on the label could be the manufacturers part for the original hose. Whatever they’ve done they have updated it by the looks of it.

Re: Air con again!!
It wasn’t much fun I can tell you Steve - trying to get road tax from main post office at 5:15 because the previous owner had the wrong tax renewal form (classification changed from disabled user) so we couldn’t tax it over the phone using the code.
My sat nav came into its own that day I can tell you - doing a POI search for post offices in a foreign land with 15 minutes til closing! AND no air con!

Re: Air con again!!
Went to post office the other day to change the classification of my vehicle from Private to Disabled.
I was asked for my insurance of course. I patiently explained that I was changing the classification of the vehicle NOT taxing it! Doesn’t matter was the reply, you obviously intend to drive it so you need insurance papers.
No said I, the car is SORN, I don’t need tax just yet. The counter person looked at me as if I had two heads, obviously not a clue what she was talking about!
Right she said, where’s your statement of entitlement, so I handed it across the counter. What’s this she cried, I need a statement of entitlement! Says I, that’s why it has statement of entitlement written all over it!
No she says, I need a different one! Well says I, that’s the one I’ve been handing to the DVLA for the past three years. No no she says, that’s not good enough for the post Office, bugger off to the DVLA and get the classification changed there.
Is it only me or is this country going down the pan, sinking under the weight of the jobs worth and PC types?
Hmmmm.
Oh, thanks Marc, that makes sense. Your part numberr brings up the pipe with the loop at the compressor end.
I can see how this would make for a more robust fitment.

Air con again, Part 2
Hello again everybody.
Well, I collected my shiny new air con hose and O rings from Citroën this morning and fitted them. I then whipped the car up to my mates and he vacuumed the system, unfortunately however, despite several attempts, it wouldn’t hold the vacuum.
After much messing about it was discovered that the condenser had also started leaking after the overcharge a few days ago!!
My question is, can anybody recommend a replacement brand? I can only guess at the price from Citroën so it’s going to have to be a factors. Has anybody used Behr hella (ECP) for example?
Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thank you. Gerald.

Re: Air con again, Part 2
I have just ordered 401481642496 from ebay for £49. I have had other parts from them and they have been fine. so fingers crossed... I believe they are Euro Car Parts ebay outlet.
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: Air con again!!
Be sure to get the correct one - don't rely on 'generic' ones.
The correct part number for your X7 is: 1610161080. This is a new non OEM one (Citroen provide a cheaper one for cars over 3 years old), priced at: £233.62 inc. VAT.
The OEM one from Citroen is: 6455GY and that costs £372.12 inc. VAT
At least you have the part numbers now.

Re: Air con again!!
Many thanks.
I’m tempted to try the Behr Hella from ECP at £110 inc VAT. If it doesn’t fit I might go with Citroën’s Eurorepar or whatever their called. I will however look at that eBay link now.
Hmmmm, found it. It’s gone up to £60. I think that’s the EIS unit they sell over the counter fo about £84.
Thanks.

Re: Air con again!!
There are a lot of different ones - I'm not sure that one will fit your MK III - and again they are engine specific - and I really would caution about some ebay sellers - their parts data is totally unfit for purpose.
Best stick with the part numbers I gave you and then search some aftermarket suppliers. The decent ones should then provide a cross reference to the OEM part numbers.

Re: Air con again!!
Sounds like very good advice. My mate has ordered one from a local reputable factors which is £84 + VAT trade.
I’m going to be giving it a close inspection when it arrives tomorrow morning, I’ll compare it closely with the original.
I’ll now start looking for others using that part number. Thank you Marc.

Re: Air con again!!
Just to clarify the one I linked is listed at £60 but they are offering 20% discount with code PURE20 listed in the description. I have confirmed it is the eurocarparts ebay shop!

Re: Air con again!!
Hiya Mick, thanks for that.
I’ve just noticed that none of these seem to come with the sensor fitted. Does anybody know what this sensor is and what the part number may be (Marc)?
Thanks.

Thank you Marc!!
Methinks this C5 might already be on its second condenser. The one that’s just come out looks more like the cheapie EIS condenser than it does your illustration. The one in the illustration looks more like the dearer Hella unit.
Hmmmm!
