I have been doing some research about the lads picasso which is mis behaving..........does the ecu need to be told if a new cam belt has been fitted? Phonic timing??

Also, there is a switch on the brake pedal ( to tell the ecu/bsi to turn the brake lights on, and probably to inform the ecu fuel system to stop/reduce fueling to aid braking ??? ) and a green sleeved switch on the clutch pedal???

Can anyone please tell me if the brake switch is normally open ( no continuity ) when the brake pedal is at rest, and, the clutch switch, is that normally open ( no continuity ) when the clutch pedal is at rest please????

The picasso is not at mine at the moment as the pug is still being welded for MOT, so i do not know how m,any wires these switches have, 2 or 3.

Any/all help greatly appreciated as we do not want to scrap the picasso, but we may have to.

No, the ECU doesn't need to be told about a Cam Belt change.

Release of the Accelerator pedal will stop fuelling.

The brake pedal in addition to operating the brake lamps also tells the engine ECU to disengage the cruise control where fitted - or wherever there is a coherence issue

Clutch switch normally closed. Pressing the clutch breaks the contact.

Thanks marc, still gathering info for when the picasso is under the car port again, still welding up the pug 306 but getting closer.

Does the Picasso have the same type of brake switch that was fitted to later Mk1 C5s? This type is not a simple push to make but has two circuits: push to make for brake lights and push to break for cruise control.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.
