I would love a big C6 but I’d never pay over £500 to tax it.

I think the tax would be the cheapest cost on a C6 Gary!

I was looking at the following, but would rather drive on the Xsara than pay that amount of tax. Last time I checked the Xsara tax was about £100 cheaper. That would keep me in maintenance costs for the year.
The only concern I have with it now is a bit of rust inside engine bay. That and the structural integrity of it to absorb a head on collision.

3.0 V6 240hp

2.0 HDi

Both £290 tax.

MMMM.....Not sure where you got that from, it may be starting to crumble due poor materials, but nothing out there as comfortable for the price it will fetch!!

My C4 has covered 60.000 miles now and I find it easy to drive although I must admit parking it takes some getting used to (torque converter being the best).

Gear changes are smooth with the occasional 2nd to 1st at low speed jerk but with practice good to drive and quick off the mark , I find it best to actually stop at a roundabout so 1st is then selected for a nippy get away.

The only problem I have had the dash lit up like a Christmas tree all sorts of warnings and the car would not change up past 3rd gear was down to a front nearside ABS lead, wrongly diagnosed by the R.A.C. but not my local garage who diagnosed and fitted a new one but it didn't cure the problem.

All was put right by a Citroen experienced man who cleaned up the mounting point and realigned the sensor correctly 22.000 miles ago.

I keep getting a gearbox fault coming up on the dash. It will not go into gear. turn it off and wiggle the gear shift and some times it goes back into gear. Any suggestions on the problem.

If wiggling the gearstick help it might be a faulty sensor or switch.

I have had no problem withC4 with EGS. I did not realise was so complicated . Now on 80K. Pleasant fun to have paddle controlled easier to use than DS 5 speed Pallas or SM 5 speed, a rt hander from McLeod in Wollongong NSW.AS C4 is 7 years old and seeing all technical terrors will contemplate update ,was hoping to make 200K , Ken
