Lets hope the exhuast manifiolds haven't rotted out too You need a BIIIIIG socket for the fan - 42mm or something? My Dad's got one somewhere that was bought in order to replace the rubber boot (?) on the suspension pump - used once AFAIK!
So maybe not the cooling fan

PS I did start a thread a couple of weeks ago to drag up some of the excellent content sitting in the FCF vaults. There are some excellent pictures on this thread of 2013 vintage from yourself Richard, which may even have the very vehicle the socket was bought for on!

Re: The Pickled Egg trivia quiz
Those are expensive!
I bought a second hand tube spanner, about a fiver, which I thought was outrageous at the time, ant the nut and 'C' nut together were £3 from the dealer.
This! just dug it out from the dreaded cupboard under the stairs
43mmm across the flats, 52mm across the 'corners', 28cm long.
Hasn't been used since around 1985 IIRC, shame to bin it though, you never know!
ED: to add photo's

Re: The Pickled Egg trivia quiz
Got it Nigel!
I think the car is one not shown there - a pale blue GS Estate JEO 343P. 1983/4 possibly, and the connector to the hydraulic pump went - the pump is driven off the crank so removal of the fan required. No suitable socket, and neither could the local farmer turn anything up - I remember a trip in his early 60s Ford (Cortina?) to the local hardware shop(*) to get a socket - it must have been 1984ish as there was discussion about it being exempt from the then new law on seatbelt wearing. I remember it taking most of the weekend and requiring a lot of dismantling of the front end, for a very small part - and breaking the end off a screwdriver holding the ring gear whilst trying to undo the said crankshaft nut!
*The Hardware shop was W Hurst & Son in Newport IOW - an amazing emporium that had the best selection of tools EVER!! Spent many an hour in there looking at the tools.... Still going, and still has the tools by the look of it: https://hurst-iw.co.uk/

I think I've got one - in which case it's almost certainly for a 2CV hub.
Citroens:-
'81 2CV Club
'05 C15
'97 Xantia Exclusive estate
others:-
Jeep XJ Cherokees x 3
'96 Cadillac Eldorado
'99 Cadillac STS
& the numerous "abandoned projects"

Re: The Pickled Egg trivia quiz
At least 2 2-wheeled vehicles have been given the moniker De-Luxe (can you have a deluxe two wheeler?)
I'll give you this one for free. It is this rather modest Autovap Moped from 1960. (can you have a de-luxe moped?) But the AutoVap moped really hits the "deluxe" jackpot with its models. The varieties were standard, deluxe, super deluxe, caravelle & caravelle deluxe.
See what you can findSo onto the question
Are there any other two wheel examples which have Deluxe in their model name?
..and a clue to one which I know of.....it used to be marketed as the "Gentleman's Tourer" and was available in mist-green or black, unless you were an export customer when you could have it painted in any colour you wanted. Oh and Imperial Chemical Industries once owned the Company although not at the time of this model.

Whatever, it IS a dual carriageway &, therefore, the speed limit is 70 - unless a lower speed is indicated. What's Welsh for otiose?

Re: The Pickled Egg trivia quiz
Wiki reckons they cames as standard in Black or Mist Green, but for export they would do in in any BSA colour seeing as at the time Sunbeam was within the BSA stable
I know a gentleman who has this very "gentleman's tourer" . At the time, when he was struggling to get the technique right for starting the thing, I thought he had paid maybe a bit too much for it. There is only one way prices have gone since he got it though, and thats up. How standard the paint is, or whether it was originally built for export I have no idea.
Oops! Listed as an S8 when originally sold.
