Peugeot 1007 1.4hdi Glow Plugs Relay

Post by Bandicoot »

We have 56reg 1007 1.4hdi and it is struggling to start when engine is cold, especially now, after temperature drops below 5 degrees. I plugged it to pp2000 and there is a permanent fault on glow plug relay. Also, I never seen it turning the glow plug light on the instrument cluster. That makes me to think it needs new relay for a start. The question is, where abouts that relay located in our cars and how is it looking like? I seen there are two parts in internet, one looks like a long but thin black relay box and the other is more like a voltage regulator with a heatsink and is more like square. Which one do I need and where to find it on 1007? I read about 206’s and they have this relays on the back of the battery housing but I imagine our engine bays are different. If someone can drop a picture of the relay that would be a great help! Thank you!

The Glow Plug relay is Peugeot Part Number: 598140, item (3) below in the diagram.

It should be easy to identify, as there are not too many other relays like this - check near the battery / engine fuse box for mounting.

Some are long and thin and others short and fat, but it's always important to get the correct one - so use the part number I gave you to search on and make sure it lists this number.

I'll get you the Peugeot price shortly (they usually update their parts database on a Sunday), so check back in a bit.

Hmm...for me it looks like it’s is mounted somewhere on the engine bay shield. I will search for it tomorrow and will make a picture of it. I searched all over the google and there are plenty of pictures for 206 and 307 but when it comes to 1007!- nothing at all. Tried Jimbutterworths web page, but there is no information about glow plugs as well.

They're usually fairly near the battery and engine bay fusebox.
Very distinctive shape, with terminals on the underside: two large ones, and a small multiway connector.
Check that the large cable connections are clean and tight (preferably at the GP end too) and haven't suffered from connection overheating (eg swollen insulation).

As Marc says, very important that you replace it with exactly the right one, as the innards of these units varies (different timing, with/without post-heating, etc), although the casings look identical.
