OMG, remember all the stick the Allegro got for its square Steering Wheel, back in the day when I were a boy....
I happened to glance inside a 2014 Fiat 500L earlier today, to see if any of the style of the original had been carried over (seemingly not).
Imagine my surprise though to find that the Allegro was ahead of its time and the Square Steering Wheel is back!
Perhaps our laughter back in the 1970's was misguided.....
(I didn't take a pic of the car I noticed, hence a pic of a similar interior sourced online)

Rover SD1 got a subtly non-circular one too, apparently because of legroom issues in the driver's seat...

Re: Quartic Steering Wheels
We will probably runout of Quartic Steering wheel examples fairly rapidly...
...but before the steering wheel becomes a relic of the past with automatic pilot systems/driverless cars there are a few examples of quirky/nostalgic ones which may be worth a revisit.
This is from one of the few Aston Martins which would actually turn my head...

Now where did Aston get that single-spoke wheel from, I wonder?

That AML Interior is indeed amazing, less keen on the exterior though.
D'you think we should give Jim some Quartic bicycle wheels to try out?

Wow! Still looks a bit lumpy but the grip would be awesome
Well, you may jest but there's quite a wide following for oval chainrings...Pug_XUD_KeenAmateur wrote: ↑20 Oct 2018, 18:12 D'you think we should give Jim some Quartic bicycle wheels to try out?

Chris Froome is a fan allegedly and there are some scientific principles behind them...
Me, I'll stick to the round variety, both wheels and chainrings!!!
Although having said that, bike wheels don't remain round for long on UK roads You might say all of them sort of evolve into quartics after a few hundred miles

Re: Quartic Steering Wheels
I recall wondering when this pale imitation came out why they were re-inventing something that had been tried - & found wanting. I think Chrysler were 1st - with the '59 Imperial, the following year Dodge adopted it for the Fury & it ran for about 4 years BUT no sooner had the novelty (or the cutomers' patience) worn off, than the '64 Impala got one. Were there any still in production when the All-aggro was in the design stage? It is just possible!

Re: Quartic Steering Wheels
I remember oval chain rings from way back in the 40s/50s Jim, one of my mates had a bike with one fitted, it was much more oval than those offered in your clip, I guess at the time there was little science to it, just a novelty.

Re: Quartic Steering Wheels
Interesting to know they're not a new innovation Eric... Just shows there's nothing new in this world!!!!
Saw the downside of oval chainrings yesterday... One of our riders on our epic 100 miler to Cafe Ventoux sported them on his bike and it kept throwing the chain
He also rode on some very puncture-prone tyres too...

That Tesla offering looks to me to be downright dangerous.
How are you supposed to deploy both hands when it's turned through 90°, and then make a sudden further turn ?
