Just a quick question regarding the addition of the fluid. Is the quantity of fluid injected in to the tank dependant on the quantity of diesel added, or is a standard dose irrespective? I've read various conflicting views on this. Thanks

The injection is based on the quantity of fuel added using the reading of the fuel level gauge at engine switch off and memorising it, then determining whether fuel has been added - measuring new fuel gauge reading after restarting and moving off, then estimating fuel added and injecting the relevant amount of additive.

Each injection system is slightly different but this is basically how it operates Pete. If this was not undertaken, then people who keep 'topping up' their cars would end up having too much additive in the mixture and would likely end up with premature DPF failure due to all the additional Cerine deposits (which can't be burnt off) clogging the filter.

Thanks Marc, that's what I thought, but I had read to the contrary.
