Thank you for accepting me on your forum.
I have worked as a motor mechanic for 38 years and on Citroens - at three dealerships and went on lots of Citroen training courses - since 1985. Later on I also had my own French car specialist garage.
I am, since Saturday, the proud owner of a 1994 Green Citroen Xantia 1.9D. Only 37,000 genuine miles from new. It came with lots of paperwork and it spent most of it's life as a doctor's car on the Isle of Skye, then as a 'show' car at a dealership in Edinburgh. I bought it without driving it or even actually viewing it...
Luckily, for me, it seems to be in near-perfect condition. When I first drove it, I hated it! I'ts easy to forget just how good cars have become in the last ten years
However, after lowering the accelerator pedal, a new clutch cable and general tinkering, it now drives just as it should. I love it!
The plan is to make it last forever.
A tip: When adjusting the ride height, only slacken the clamp bolt on the anti-roll bar just enough so it can be tapped round using a suitable (screwdriver) drift, but still grips the roll bar.
It took me years to come up with this one and it eliminates the twisting/over-correction saga and allows very fine ride height adjustment.

Re: My 37k Xantia
Hi and welcome to the Forum.. I've moved your post here as it seemed more appropriate to go into the Introductions.
A wealth of knowledge here built up over the years with plenty of past and present Xantia owners.

Re: My 37k Xantia
You only have to have a French car (or van even) to be welcome here but someone with your background AND the ambition to make a Xantia last for ever will fit in very well.

Yes, indeed . . . some photos of your cherished low-miler would be good to see. Obviously in the best of hands now!
I wondered whether you ever accumulated a personal stock of Citroen service and training literature as time went on?
