It was said a couple of years ago that the new C5 would be built by Opel in Germany and would presumably be a tarted up Insignia.

That one looks very much form over function.

Yes I agree they've half inched the Tourer in many ways - plagiarism plain and simple, but now they're in the 'family' (or at least adopted family), I suppose they can get away with it. The new C5 better be a darned site more spectacular.

I think the C5 X7 is the best looking tourer out there. Butch and manly and yes I do have a small penis :rofl2:

So the new C5 , will there be one and if so will they make a right hand drive version, they didn't with the C4 Aircross.

Yes they will. They have a gap in the Marque now with no C6 or C5 (come on Linda Jackson, didn’t take a genius to see that!). So after stopping C5 production at the end of last year they are now bringing it back in a few years time. No hydraulic suspension but will likely get the new progressive hydraulic cushions instead.

The C5 crossover is already due out soon I believe.

That's not a pretty car and sadly very anonymous... Looks like any other Eurobox and not distinctive at all :(

The thing looks very bulky, horribly styled and horrendously ugly...

The X7 is a far and away the better looking car...

This really does look like the end for Citroen

I doubt that they would pay GM licence fee for the insignia platform to be honest. Isn't that the reason why the GM cars will be migrating to the PSA platforms in the coming years?

I think an introduction of the latest C5 that they sell in china would do the job, they do look spectacular.

Definitely modern but still has the X7 character.

I have to say I hate that interior on the Chinese version - That touchscreen looks as if it was an afterthought - "oh, let's just bung it here" approach. The seats don't look at all supportive and more akin to a deck chair. Those central buttons are in a single row with no logic or design - I just hate it.

GM are now part of the brand (they are now incorporated into the PSA group's main page now - but I did read some assurance that the marques will be developed independently and there won't be any 'GM' influence - thank you very much for that.

We want some more quirkiness please Citroen with some more independent thought ingenuity and uniqueness. Oh well, we can dream on...

According to this all new PSA group cars will be built on one of 2(!) PSA platforms, using one of 4 powertrain families - so the current Vaux / Opel underpinnings are for the chop.

Launching all new Vauxhall and Opel models on PSA’s CMP and EMP2 platforms, including the next, all-new Corsa in 2019. This will reduce the number of platforms in use from nine to two. Powertrain families will reduce from 10 to four.Vauxhalls will also use PSA engines and powertrains. All vehicles will be engineered at Opel’s plant in Rüsselsheim.
I didn't read it like that - only new Vauxhall / Opel cars being built on PSA's CMP / EMP2 platforms...?

I agree with you on the touchscreen but then again all of the modern Mercedes have stupid tablet like touchscreens tacked onto the dash... maybe they thought it was a good idea.

Obviously the steering wheel is all wrong but I do like the gearstick area, looks very upmarket like a big Audi.

The exterior has the high level DLR's at the top of the cluster like the new Picasso which I think looks really modern.

I'm not completely sold on the screen instead of the instrument cluster however I have yet to try a car with one so I'll reserve judgement, all I'll say is that the I really like the cluster on the normal X7, nothing needed changing in my view.

Does this mean that the 508 is the last of the European PSA PF3 platform cars ever then and the 'new c5' will be on a stretched PSA EMP2 platform?

That para could be read like that, but it seems that PSA strategy is to have only 2 platforms, although EMP2 can have:

Four different track widths
 Five wheelbases
 Two cockpit and cowl solutions
 Two rear suspension architectures (deformable beam and multi-link)
 A variety of rear-unit modules for different versions (short, long, five or seven seats, independent or bench seats, internal combustion engine or hybrid, etc.).
 Increased manufacturing flexibility, notably at the body-in-white stage, allowing for up to six rear unit versions on a single line.

So, there's plenty of flexibility! And opportunity for corporate bulls**t if you read some of the press releases!!
